Are any of you rather disturbed by those banner ads (Usually advertising dating or sex sites) that mention your location or cities bordering your location on them? I read somewhere that these type of ads are triggered by finding your zipcode in the browser cache or your IP address location.

its done by your IP address, and it is nothing to worry about.

I'm not as paranoid as you think and I know that it's secure, it's just creepy is all. It's weird when those stupid little banners are getting smart enough with their programming scripts to figure out where you live and target you with fake dating ads. O.o It was just a silly thought I had.

that's the thing though; they aren't figuring anything out - the server has to know your IP address to send you the image, and your IP address contains the basic information that they display in the image, so no-one is actually seeing your private information but YOU.

What bugs me about these banners is they usually have chicks on them. INTERNET, I AM A HETEROSEXUAL FEMALE. I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO USES THIS COMPUTER. Plz to be giving me banners with MALES on it. Thanks.
