As I was reading the credits of Spike's Unsolved Mysteries today, I saw that Big Machine Design was credited with creating the graphics for the series. I went to the Big Machine Design website, and found the section of their site devoted to Unsolved Mysteries. What I saw surprised me.

The site contains a video with Big Machine Design's original version of the intro sequence. The imagery is the same as the intro used in the broadcast, but the introduction contains a variation of the original theme song and uses the classic Unsolved Mysteries logo instead of the new one.

Apparently, these elements were removed in place of a new theme song and logo before the show made it to broadcast. I find this surprising, to say the least.

I'm a fan of the new series, and I do like the new theme song, but I'm really shocked that the iconic old song was replaced for the updated show, especially now that I know that a variation of the old song was specifically created for the show.

Nice find. I like how that one has the original logo, but I didn't particularly care for that remix, pretty lame sounding.

Yeah, the intro at the link is just as lame as the current one. The only things I like about the current one are the rising piano chords as the title sequence comes to a close and that "clanging pipes" sound over the credits (after the title sequence). But the rest of the music theme is just completely undifferentiated.

I understand the producers want to give the show a more modern touch, but why not bring back the original U.M. score since all the fans seem to be so fond of it? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

It's not just the fans that are fond of the old score- the original Unsolved Mysteries theme is one of the most beloved and well-recognized television songs of all time. Ask anyone about Unsolved Mysteries, and they will say two things, even if they aren't a huge fan: Robert Stack was great and the music gave them chills.

And I agree about the piano bits at the tail ends of the new title sequence- they are the best parts by far, and the only parts that really stick in my head.

You have to be kidding me. That intro is TEN TIMES BETTER than what they went with. I love that logo.....I really hope they go back to it. The music is still better than what they have now, but ultimately I wish they would just go back to the original.

YES, I am in agreeance with everybody. I definitely prefer the old score. It's quite a chilling tune.
