Who do you think are some of the the NFL's most underrated and overrated players?

My choices:

Underrated

Thomas Jones- You think the Bears would still want him? He's given the Jets a nice RB, proving that there is life after Curtis Martin.

Willie Parker- When he's healthy, he's scary.

Michael Turner- He was L.T.'s backup, but still known to break off big plays from time to time as a Charger. As a full-time guy, he gives Atlanta a stud RB that reminds me of Jamal Anderson.

Jeff Garcia- He gets overshadowed in his own division by flashy gunslingers like Brees and Delhomme, but can put up big numbers (see his San Fran years) and will a team to victory (Tampa Bay's second-half comeback against K.C.). Plus, he has a smoking hot wide to boot.

Andre Johnson- Right guy on the wrong team. If you put him in Arizona, he's be beyond scary!

Greg Jennings- He gives Green Bay a touchdown-machine at wideout that reminds me of the great Stering Sharpe.

Bernard Berrian- He doesn't have a ton of catches, but is a big-play guy. He had 104 yards on TWO catches last Sunday. The Bears would be better off if they kept him!

Overrated

Brian Westbrook- I know Wreckless will hate this, but he doesn't have THAT many 100-yard games and is not a touchdown machine like other two-way offensive players. I would rather have a guy with tons of touchdowns and fewer yards than tons of yards and fewer touchdowns.

Frank Gore- He had one great year and is still living off it.

Vernon Davis- HOW did he get selected #6 in the 2006 NFL Draft?

I agree with both of you- definitely Sonny. Donovan is good but Westbrook is the MVP of the team and makes the difference lol. Yeah Sol, Joe Flacco is having a GREAT year, especially & surprisingly since he's a rookie QB too.

I think Kurt Warner is having an underrated year too. Yeah we know he's good and has talent from past years, but considering his old age.

Every QB is judged by what he does against the Eagles. If he can't play well enough to beat my most hated team then to me he is nothing

So, if Warner threw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns against the New York Giants, would THAT impress you?

You really are quite perplexing.

In your world, it's about beating the Eagles as opposed to winning a Super Bowl.

Yup pretty much. And Brett Favre was 0-9 against the Eagles in his career until last year but still wasn't enough to take him off the list

underrated-
Hines Ward- most complete football player in the nfl.

London Fletcher- always around the ball.. Don't think he ever made the pro bowl.

Tont Gonzalez- All he does is catches every ball thrown to him.

Drew Brees- Accurate passer, doesn't the right team around him.

Jason Witten- When the "Boys" need a big play, he makes it.

Fred Taylor- Great back.

Donald Driver- He is the Packs Offense.

Overrated.

TO-not a team player, enough said.

Ocho Cinco-Too many silly antics and not enough statistics.

Roy Williams- How he makes the Pro bowl.. ??

Tony Romo- not a good decision maker.

Eli Manning- just like Pittsburgh, without that great defense, Eli looks confused.

I'm going to be a bit of a homer here and say Chris Cooley is also underrated. Cooley's up there with Witten. Last year, Cooley led the Skins in receiving yards because Santana Moss wasn't 100%. When your Tight End leads you in receiving yards, you know you have a good TE.

Talk about being a homer, I'll add linebacker James Farrior, And DE Arron Smith too.

lets have a joint session with a hot female therapist & try to figure out why you hate the eagles so much & why I hate the giants so much... I know the answer is not possible to uncover but at least we can have fun trying

Solomon... I love Dmac, but I don't believe he is a hall of famer at this moment. If the eagles ever give him things to work with (they are starting too) & he puts 3 or 4 years in a row together like 2004, then we can talk about that.

Rex Grossman stinks

Nope he is just the one thats always Blamed and that Stinks!!...In My never to be humble opinion when they lose...the whole team stinks.......Rexx can Throw awesome Passes but Guys have to actually be paying attention and catch them...and try to catch them not just stand there and look at them as they go past them...and the defense has Stunk all year...Betcha thats Rexxs fault too...

another Overrated player is Hester...he can only live on his past accomplishments for sooo long....come on he needs to do something to show that he can still be effective and get the job done.

Hester, the Bears superior d and their running back-mostly Thomas Jones was the reason they made the superbowl and got that far, in '06...one player doesn't make a team Chris, sorry to say.

I disagree with Bernard Berrian being underrated. He's the best playmaker not named Adrian Peterson that the Vikings have had since Randy Moss, but for a guy who is getting paid more this year than anyone else at his position other than Marvin Harrison if I'm not mistaken, he isn't worth it considering how often he drops the damn ball.

Someone I don't think I've seen mentioned yet for being underrated would be Phillip Rivers. He's having a great season so far, and for his career he has a 90+ passer rating.

And lol @ Vernon Davis...he was an All American tight end in college, and put up phenominal numbers at the NFL Combine...turns out that doesn't all translate into being a good NFL tight end. I gotta think his attitude, and the team he's on are reasons for him not living up to all the hype so far.
