Watching the Spurs lose 3 games in a row is really hard to watch. I can see Manu Ginobili on the side lines looking very anxious. I wish Manu was back NOW! Duncan & Parker are doing great but, we need some more of our other great players to step up. :eek:

I haven;t been following the NBA standings since the season is only a week old but I was watching ESPN and they brought up that the spurs are 0-3 and I was like-"REALLY?? But then I remembered that Manu is hurt and that's why they are losing. But being 0-3 in a 82 game season is not a big deal.

Yeah your right, there is still a long way to go. It is just hard to watch. I can only imagine how it feels for Manu to sit there knowing that if he was playing they would be winning.

If they can stay a couple games above .500 until Manu comes back, they will definitely remain as a potential threat in the West. Just be patient lol.

It's funny because Minnesota is a young, inexperienced, shooting team, while San Antonio is a much older, playoff experienced, wear and tear basketball team.

Honestly, I'm not a Spurs fan, and pardon me if I'm reveling in their misery.

I'm not a fan of their style of play and I find Duncan to be really boring, plus it makes for boring basketball. I want to see games wear teams score at least 90!

Speaking of the NBA, the f*ck is up with the Sixers? They let the Hawks win, after being up 20+ points in that game, and they lost to Miami tonight. No, they got their asses handed to them tonight. I know it's only 5 games in, but not acceptable. Get that sh*t straight Mo.

Hawks was down 20? 76ers for some reason has always struggled to beat the hawks in Atlanta, even when A.I was there. I remember Iverson having a 55 point game and still losing to the Hawks

Yup and damn, I always remember them losing to the Hawks as well lol. Yeah, they haven't been that good, at least good to be noteworthy in the NBA for awhile, but we for some reason, have trouble beating them sometimes lol....

Spurs' Tony Parker: Zero to 55 in a flash


Tony Parker, in a double-overtime victory for the Spurs, had the best individual scoring performance ever against a Wolves team.
If all the world is indeed a stage -- and Target Center's court fabulously became one Wednesday night -- the arena's public-address announcer would have preceded San Antonio's 129-125 double-overtime victory over the Timberwolves with these hushed words borrowed from the theatre:

Parker shattered his career high by scoring 55 points -- the most ever against a Timberwolves team -- on a night when the Wolves fell to 1-3 but for the first time this season displayed the team they could become.

Last season, Ginobili single-handedly won a pair of games at Target Center by scoring 31 points in November and 44 in February. The Wolves might have figured they got a break when the Spurs arrived Wednesday with an 0-3 record for the first time since the team's first American Basketball Association season in San Antonio 35 years ago and without Ginobili, out until December while he heals from ankle surgery.

Parker took every defender -- Corey Brewer and Sebastian Telfair, to name two -- the Wolves threw at him and dissected the Wolves both with an unusual number of made jump shots and with his expected dashes to the rim. He forced the second overtime with a jump shot at the buzzer and then put the Spurs ahead to stay by scoring the opening four points of that second overtime.

"It was just one of those games when everything you do -- teardrops, jump shots -- works," Parker said. "I've scored 40 in Europe and 45 or 46 in high school, but never 50."

Parker joined Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan and LeBron James as the only NBA players to have at least 50 points and 10 assists in a game.

"That's as many jump shots as I've seen Tony Parker make in a game," Wolves coach Randy Wittman said of a night when Parker made 22 of 36 field-goal attempts and teammates Tim Duncan and Roger Mason combined for another 56 points. "That's what you try to do, make him shoot jump shots. I told our guys afterward, we could easily be 3-1. The reality is we're 1-3."

In defeat, in the season's fourth game, the Wolves for the first time displayed the team and the lineup they envisioned when they made that draft-night trade with Memphis five months ago:

For the first time, veteran Mike Miller asserted himself, scoring the team's first seven points and finishing with 25 points that included five three-pointers. For the first time, rookie Kevin Love became a prime-time player, delivering a 14-point, nine-rebound performance in 35 minutes (by 13 minutes a season high) that included a spot with the starters to open the second half. And for the first time this season, Telfair, back from a season-opening, three-game suspension, played and ran the show down the stretch until he fouled with 1:29 left in the first overtime.

They also made just enough mistakes to lose: Al Jefferson's missed free throw late in regulation time allowed Tim Duncan to tie the score with 2.7 seconds left. Randy Foye then threw the inbounds pass directly to Bruce Bowen, denying the Wolves of a potential winning shot. In the overtimes, they allowed one or two offensive rebounds too many.

"You don't want to lose too many to build on," Miller said.

Tony Parker was a beast last night. There was so many big individual performances last night for players in the NBA. Parker had 55 & 10, Amare had 49, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and a couple steals, Lebron 41 points, 6 assists, 9 rebounds

Monar, I'm going to admit. I am a huge hater of the Spurs.

I find them to be dull and boring.

Damn, it's just getting worse and worse for them. I just saw on Sportscenter that Tony Parker got injured. Not sure how bad it is, but it certainly didn't look good.He's the leagues highest scorer, so this loss would be a death blow for the Spurs.

They just said on ESPN that Parker will be out 2-4 weeks. Could be worse, but still bad news for a team that's struggling, and has another of their top 3 players (Ginobili) out until December or later.

As a hoops fan, I don't like the Spurs.

I would NEVER cheer when a guy gets hurt, but I always thought of them as a dull and boring team that made basketball uninteresting.

Oh man what a heartbreaker last night, Tony Parker is out now too. What's next? :(

HURTING SPURS

San Antonio, already without Manu Ginobili, will be without Tony Parker for at least two weeks after he sprained his left ankle in the first quarter of a 99-83 loss to the Miami Heat. Parker was leading the NBA in scoring following his career-best, 55-point effort in a double-overtime victory over Minnesota on Wednesday. Ginobili is rehabbing his own ankle injury that will cost him the first quarter of the season.
