Just watching Season 1 volume 1 and the Robbie character might just be the most annoying sitcom character I can remember.Screaming and yelling little brat and I just wanted Mike to slug him to shut him up.I know Robbie evolved into a likeable character but what an annoying jerk he was at first.Anyone feel the same?

Chip was more the middle child than Robbie - especially when Mike left the show.

I never really noticed that, although it has been a while since I got to see the early episodes.

Actually I always had a crush on Robbie so I wouldn't have seen him that way at any point. :lol:

He sure was!! You hit this 100% spot on!! LOL

Of course all these things are a matter of taste. As in some people love beets while others hate them.

In this DVD set, I really like all the characters so Robbie's just fine by me. But, believe me, I get it when someone comes across a character they just CAN'T STAND. For me its JJ on Good Times. For me he's like nails scrapping across a blackboard. I can only take 30 seconds of him at a time.

I liked Robbie, he was just a typical kid at that age. I never cared for the character Dodie, either. They should have let her be her true age, not try to make her younger. The short dresses and the hair in the eyes just always annoyed me to no end.

I have to agree about JJ, I liked the show, but just could not stand to hear him at all. I wish they had did more stories about Thelma, I really liked her.

Lets not also forget Don Grady's singing abilities. He still looks and sounds great.

As Robbie (and Don) got older, the character become more appealing because I remember in the color episodes, he was now the older brother and he wasn't annoying to me.

FWIW, I'm in no rush to get volume 2 of season 1. I'm disappointed in how CBS has treated this series.

I have most of the shows and it's just way too expensive for me to buy. The reviews aren't good either and if the music isn't the same, I know I wouldn't care for it. If they don't get it right, they may as well not do anymore seasons because people won't buy it, especially at the current price.

I agree - it was Dodie that I totally couldn't stand! I guess by that time they thought they needed a younger child on the show still since Ernie was getting up there, but why they had to add her in particular I don't know. Not only the hair in the eyes, but just her voice would get to me.

He always thought that he was smarter than others, had thought up things for the first time when in fact that was not true, used fancy or foreign words to impress people, etc. He craved attention, but on his own terms. Just two days ago, I watched the episode titled "Tea for Three" when the triplets come home the hospital, Robbie is annoyed with the attention the triplets are getting until he took them for a walk and then complained that they (he) were not getting the attention they deserved.

That's actually a very good point. Now that you point that out, he did become more whiney are self-centred as his marriage went on and when the triplets came along didn't he?

I think it's best called "middle child syndrome". My middle child is so different than the other two. She's always been one for wanting attention too.
