Hi,
I would very much like to find episodes of this short lived series that aired for a little over a month beginning in September 1992. The series was hosted by the late Robert Stack (my idol, lol) and featured cases involving inmates in prison or on death row who may be innocent. The show was a spinoff of a segment on "Unsolved Mysteries" which was also airing on NBC at the time. Using TV Guide descriptions, I have figured out roughly how many episodes there were and the subjects of most of them. Here is what I have come up with. I would like to find all episodes or any episodes anyone may have...
9/18/92 - Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald - familiar case of the Green Beret surgeon serving life for murdering his wife and two young daughters in 1970. He has always maintained his innocence claiming that he and his family were attacked by hippies in a scenario similar to the Manson family murders. The episode also featured a story about 33 African American soldiers who claim they were wrongly convicted of mutiny during WWII.
10/2/92 - Not sure who the defendant was. I just know they claimed they were framed for the murder of a security guard.
10/9/92 - Tony Miller was serving 20 years for robbing a fast food restaurant and shooting a police officer. Another man later confessed to the crime. Miller was actually exonerated after the show aired when a prosecution witness recanted their testimony that identified Miller as the triggerman.
10/16/92 - Dan Montecalvo - serving life for murdering his wife even though he was shot in the back during the incident. Montecalvo claimed he and his wife interrupted a burglary. The prosecution contended that Montecalvo was a gambler and drinker and faked the incident so he could collect on his wife's insurance policy.
10/23/92 - Unknown defendant. The case involved an attempted murder of a woman in which an unidentified man was spotted at the crime scene.
Airdate unknown (may not have aired) - John Purvis was convicted of murdering a neighbor, Susan Hamwi and her daughter. Purvis was a schizophrenic and claimed the police badgered him into confessing. He was later exonerated and Hamwi's ex-husband and the hit man he hired to kill her were convicted.
If you have any episodes, or further information about this series, please get in touch.
I now have the episode about Paul Ferrell which I believe was the second episode of Final Appeal. I will trade it for other FA episodes.
Thanks so much for reading!
