So far I'm 1-0 in Blind Buy Purchases on DVD and was wondering has anyone bought a TV show on DVD and was disappointed?

yep--bought a set of "The Shirley Temple Theater" (aka "Shirley Temple's Storybook")--watched a couple of episodes--found them immensely boring and have yet to bother watching the others (still in shrinkwrap).

I bought the Bill Cosby Show and I never even finished watching it. It wasn't real bad but it really isn't my type of humor. No laugh track. lol

so you are saying you never ever saw Seinfeld?

I enjoyed Gimme A Break until it was basically falling apart the last 2 seasons.

That Girl to me, is cute, but not something I have to own.

Some of it, not a lot.

Gimme A Break definately reached its peak in seasons 3 and 4. I know 3 is coming out in Canada next year, maybe wait until that to check it out on DVD. Much like Diff'rent Strokes, it suffers from a tedious first season. But it went downhill fast after Dolph Sweet died in between seasons 4 and 5

I am apparently one of the few who think Gimme A break's first two seasons were good. I really enjyoed the first season, and enjoyed the second but not as much. I plan on getting all seasons as soon as they come out.

I don't even see Gimmie a Break on the shelves when going DVD shopping.

season 1 sold very poorly, season 2 came out in Canada though, and season 3 is supposed to come next year.

I have the entire series through bootleg and season 3 is really where the show takes off. Odd thing is, it's one of the rare shows that got better with the addition of a young child (with Joey Lawrence). Although I think the addition of Telma Hopkins as Addie in season 3 was really what made the show click since she and Nell played off each other very well, almost like a Lucy/Vivian

Amazon.ca was selling a S1 & S2 bundle but it appears to be out of stock.

Totally agree! I love all seasons of GAB! and plan to get all seasons as they are released.

As for my blind buys, I have had many successful ones. But I love classic tv even the ones that are sappy and full of tv cliches. I did a blind buy of "The Stockard Channing Show" and it's one of my favorite dvd-sets. I wish more short-lived shows like that were released. It gives us a chance to see something that hasn't been overkilled in reruns. :)

I think a short-lived show only has appeal when it's being sold by a individual person and not inside the store or amazon.com

This is the exact reason why I have Netflix, so I can preview before buying. I've never really blind bought any set.

Murphy Brown S1, the biggest waste of my life ever on a blind buy DVD purchase.

When you wanna buy something just remember to compare it at different shop, more than two or three then make your decision.

I was disappointed in the ALF DVD sets. My dad gave me the first two seasons as a present and I bought the other later on. One or two minutes is edited out of each episode. Supposedly this was done to make the DVD sets cheaper.

I just bought Moonlight last week. It's a short show about a LA vampire detective. It is really great! Only 16 episodes in all but a complete story. I am very glad I took the chance.

The Bill Cosby Show is one of those sitcoms that's more effective without a laugh track. I'm not opposed to laugh tracks, I'm fine with or without them, but I don't need a laugh track to signal me when something is funny and I'm supposed to laugh.
