Fox has canceled long-running animated comedy "King of the Hill."

The show's most recent episode order of 13 half-hours will be its last, a Fox spokesman said Thursday. Given the lead time for animation, it's likely the series will air its final episode sometime during the 2009-10 season.

News of "King's" death isn't a surprise. The show has cheated death several times over the past few years, with Fox coming close to pulling the plug more than once.

Gary Newman, co-chairman of 20th Century Fox TV, told TVWeek earlier this month that renewals for "American Dad" and "The Simpsons" were imminent, but he wasn't so sure about "Hill."

"It's probably time [for Fox to make a decision]," Mr. Newman said. "I don't know if the network will be ordering more seasons or not. That show has had its last rites read to it several times, and keeps rearing its head again."

Sad news; but the show had a good run, and survived cancellation a few times.

I am sad to see King of The Hill Leav after The 2009-2010 Season.

King of the Hill is way better than American Dad, in my opinion.
I find the latter show boring, myself.

True. KOTH quietly did it's thing; a great show with funny characters and an overall positive message about a group of family and insane friends who care about each other. Very well written stuff with a great voice cast.

It's no secret FOX has always favored Family Guy and Simpsons. Family Guy i can understand, it's one of my favorite shows. Simpsons pretty much kept FOX afloat in the early days of the network, but the show has been coasting on it's early rep for several seasons, IMO.

So they will cancel KOTH but keep **** like Family Guy and American Dad as for the Simpson's they should've axed that show ten years ago.

I love the show but I want it to go too. It's so way past it's prime it's not even funny.

Now that King of The Hill will be cancelled I think Family Guy will Move to 7:30 pm CT Time and America Dad at 8:00 pm CT Time.

Too bad, I liked this show....I hope they have a "finale", id hate to have it end with no resolution (Maybe they could tack on a "where are they now?" segment to the last show, a la "American Graffitti)

I would have to say King Of The Hill Outlasted M*A*S*H M*A*S* Was on for 11 season's King of The Hill for 13 season's.

I have to agree about Simpsons surviving way past it's prime. It's the Fox of Saturday Night Live on NBC.

I agree KOTH had a long run. There goes the cleanest of the three dirtiest cartoons that still air on Fox:lol:

I'm sure this is old news but I just read where the Simpsons is being renewed by FOX for at least three more seasons. I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to the Simpsons but I thought this might be an interesting addition to this discussion...

I agree, I'm not even a big fan of this show and I say they better end with some closure. It would just be wrong to go 13 seasons and just end with a regular episode.

It was a good well done series that didn't have to resort to gross out, dirty, toilette humor or random jokes and cultural references. I don't particularly like killing off the family (they should instead kill off the Griffins and the Simpson's) instead they should just let Hank Hill ride off into the sunset with his family.

He didnt come right out and say KOTH was being cancelled he said he wasnt sure about Hill. I mean he would renew the stupidest most jackass show on tv American Dad and a good funny show like KOTH he would cancel that just sucks

That's too bad. I just started to watch this show again for the first time in about 8 or 9 years. I don't know why I stopped watching it in the first place, it's a really good show. I hope they're able to make a series finale. Any show that's been on for 13 years deserves that.

Well I hope that in the season finale in April a couple of things happen. Dale finally finds out about Nancy cheating on him for 14 ur 15 yrs and that Joseph is really John Redcorns son. Luanne finally has her baby the show needs to be an hour to 2 hr long too just to rap up these storylines.
