View Full Version : Not sure what this means, but ...
PGood97041 10-30-2008, 10:30 PM I was just cruising Amazon.com, and I found a review page for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Complete Sixth Season.
That's right, the complete SIXTH season!
I appear to be one of the first persons to have stumbled on it, although I couldn't tell when it had been put up. It was SO new, I took the opportunity to write the first review, even though Season 6 is not out yet! (There is already a similar page on amazon for Season 5 but not one for Season 7.)
Anyway, does anybody have any idea what this means? Could it mean they are putting them out season by season instead of in a boxed set (with the boxed set coming later)?
Or was this a site that others might have found and just ignored once the news came out that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment promised to put out the rest of the series - and we're expecting a boxed set?
Thoughts, questions, comments?
Kristen 10-30-2008, 11:17 PM Well, it sounds like a good sign to me. I think those pages are created because Amazon has reason to believe the item is coming. Not necessarily that it's coming soon, but that it's coming. I would imagine that if Fox was planning to do a complete series, they could just ask Amazon to take the individual seasons pages down. I mean, otherwise that sort of misleads people, doesn't it?
Anyway, those are my two cents. They may not even be worth that much, though, hehe.

PGood97041 10-30-2008, 11:42 PM I just happened to notice that Target has a page where you can pre-order for Season 6, too!
And getting back to the Amazon.com page, you can click on one part that will have them send you an email when TMTMS Season 6 comes out.
So even though they've already said Seasons 5-7 are being produced, I don't think it would hurt to have a lot of people sign up for an alert on Season 6!
(this info a day later...on amazon, they've also taken down the pages for seasons 1-4 of TMTMS, or at least they were down when i checked...something might be up!)
MTMUKFan 11-06-2008, 02:23 PM Sorry to bring bad news but amazon doing that has no indication that season 6 is on it's way, they create those pages as placeholders I am told. If you look Cagney And Lacey have them for all seasons and FOX has no intention of releasing them. :-(
PGood97041 11-06-2008, 04:38 PM Yeah, I was aware they were kind of placeholders, but I thought with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's announcement in late August that Seasons 5-7 would be released, and what seemed to me to be some movement on Amazon.com, that maybe something was shaking.
At this point, who knows?
Kristen 11-06-2008, 11:43 PM If all we had were the placeholders, I wouldn't be so optimistic, but with that NY Times article, we know the seasons are coming. Maybe Amazon and Target decided to put their pages up early b/c they think Fox is close to announcing it.

Benno123 11-09-2008, 12:11 AM I kind of have this funny feeling that with the news of spring releases starting to happen, we may hear something soon. I say around the first of December, right between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I wish the 5th season would be out for the holidays, but I can take an Easter, 4th of July and Columbus Day 2009 release schedule!!! :)

Thank you! At least I'm not the only optimist here. :) The announcement would make an AWESOME late Christmas present.

PGood97041 11-09-2008, 02:02 AM From your lips to God's ears, Benno!
MTMUKFan 11-09-2008, 02:06 PM I find it hard to be optimistic with FOX, they had a leaflet in Hill Street Blues season 2 saying "Hill Street Blues Season 3 coming fall 2006"... never happened. I'm not getting my hopes up until we have an official announcement
PGood97041 11-10-2008, 02:00 AM oh, believe me...if we don't have any word by spring, the Mary Tyler Moore Show chapter of the Sitcoms Online Message Board is going to leap into action, led by yours truly.
that will have been seven months or so...at that point i'd have some ideas, and i'm sure the rest of the gang would be with me.
i mean, you've gotta give them some time, these things don't just spring up out of thin air...but after six months or so, if we haven't even heard anything, all bets are off!

I'm in! I hope it doesn't come to that. But if it does, I'd be more than willing to let you "lead" us all in a protest.
What I just keep telling myself is that for all we know, the announcement could come this week. So I see no reason to give up hope now.
MTMUKFan 11-10-2008, 05:00 PM You can count me in too
Benno123 11-10-2008, 07:17 PM Don't give up hope yet. If by Easter nothing has been said .... then that's a different story.
If it comes to a protest from the members of the board, then I'm calling first dibs on holding the largest sign!!!!

Yes, that's my feeling, too. I just hope Fox will hurry up and give an official release date!!
