What are some sports records you see as unbreakable?

Here are my three choices:

1. Hack Wilson's 191 RBI's

2. Wayne Gretzky's 50 goals in 39 games
(He had 41 goals in his first37 games, then scored 9 in two games, including a FIVE-goal game.

To put this in perspective, he had 50 goals BEFORE THE NEW YEAR'S DAY BOWL GAMES WERE PLAYED!)

This is exactly one of the reasons why, IMO, Gretzky is a GOD AMONG MEN.

Stephone Paige's 309 recieving yards in a single game on just 8 catches!

Let me repeat that again: 8 catches for 309 YARDS! (And he had 258 by halftime!)

Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game!!!!! That record has stood for close to 50 years, and until Kobe's 81 point game a few years ago, nobody even came close. Now with Kobe having such a great team around him, it's much less likely that he'll ever approach it again, so I see that record as being safe.

I'll never understand how that Giants team won the Super Bowl- there has never been a more boring and less interesting Super Bowl winner than those G-Men.

well when a team wins a sb because of a missed fg they really can't be viewed as real champions. so the giants didnt win that sb, the bills lost it

I wouldn't say this is unbreakable cause Lights out Lidge is gonna grab the record most likely next year, but for now, Eric Gagne's 84 straight appearences, with a save and without a blown save. Lidge is around 48/50 now.

Any record can be broken, except the ones set before changes made the game different.

Years back pitchers threw every 4th day, now every 5th, so certain records will be intact forever.

Jack Chesbro won 41 games in one season for the Yankees. No pitcher even gets 41 starts in a season now.

Ed Walsh in 1909 threw 464 innings. If a pitcher today completed 50 games he would come up short.

Cy young's 511 wins. If a pitcher won 25 for 20 consecutive years, he would come up short.

For one game anything in sports can happen but over a season it just wouldn't be.

I find Grover Cleveland's 16 shutouts in a season a tough one. Don't even remember the last time a pitcher, with long men, short men, set up men and closers, complete that many games in a season.
