riversatic68@hotmail.com 07-24-2001, 02:53 PM Hello,
I did the interviews with Lynn Borden and Shirley Booth that are provided on this site.
I am looking for Hazel episodes on Video that someone may be willing to record for me or sell me. Also Bobby Buntrock (Harold) was killed in an automobile crash on a Bridge a year after his mothers death on the same bridge. Kevin Minton Riversatic68@Hotmail.com

Hazel Anyday 04-12-2002, 01:41 PM Yipe, that's wierd, both killed on the same bridge? I knew that Bobby was killed in a car accident but not that it happened in the same place as his mother. Makes me wonder whether or not his death MIGHT have been a suicide? Don't know, but it seems to be quite a coincidence.
He was killed in 74 so it sounds like the fate of many child actors either dope or suicide! The show ended in 66 so he was unemployed for 8 years. I dont think he made very much during the shows run but more than the average kid at that time!

Unpleasant details but significant, and a odd coincidence at the very least.

It's an interesting thread. It sort of confirmed one thing I've noticed watching Hazel. It came thru that Shirley Booth seemed to really like Bobby, and that he seemed to feel the same way.
I also never knew or had never heard that Jay North visited that set. At least he might have a few fond memories of those years.
It's interesting the relationships these child actors seem to form in some shows. I've always thought it seemed that Joseph Kearns and Jay were fond of each other. The on-screen interactions seem genuine. Having that aunt, Jay probably sought any affection he could get--maybe with Shirley Booth (and her cookies!) too.
And Barry Livingston confirmed in his book that the same was true of his brother Stanley and William Frawley.

Good, some pleasant memories for a change.
jehobden 09-08-2023, 05:25 PM Bobby Buntrock died in an accident when he accidently drove through a hole in the bridge and drowned trying to get out of his car. His mother died of a heart problem, not on that bridge or any other bridge.

He was the ultimate symbol of American innocence, earning millions for Hollywood in the hit 1960s sitcom Hazel. But when puberty hit, the industry discarded him like a broken prop. This is the dark, untold story (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/thedeathdiscussion/bobby-buntrock-t6295.html) of Bobby Buntrock (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Buntrock)—the beloved child star who was pushed to the edge and lost it all at 21 (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7369996/bobby-buntrock) in the freezing waters of South Dakota. Was it a tragic accident, or did the brutal Hollywood machine drive him into the abyss?

Very sad.....
stevea 03-21-2026, 09:12 PM In most shows with known adult stars, like Hazel, the kids are just "there." In the opening to Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray Romano is frank: "It's not about the kids." But in that show, and most other shows including Hazel, the writers came up with a few episodes which really are about the kids. In most cases these episodes show that the kid actors are pretty talented, too.
