A Japanese teacher was reprimanded after leaving her classes more than 150 times so she could take horse-riding lessons, the education board said Wednesday.

The 50-year-old middle school teacher in western Osaka prefecture would leave her students waiting as she went out to ride horses and then return directly home.

She took 152 riding lessons for more than than two years until this month, mastering horse-jumping over a fence, the Osaka educational board said in a statement.

But after receiving complaints, the board ordered her to undergo a week of re-education training.

"It was not only a dereliction of duty but also lost the trust of students, parents and citizens in the community," the statement said.

The teacher, who was not identified, said she wanted to relieve stress from caring for her family.

this is one of the barmiest stories i have ever come across.

'the board ordered her to undergo a week of re-education training'- she should've attended councilling sessions to help her curb her horse obsession

Yeah, you'd figure after 40 or 50 lessons she'd be getting pretty good.

Was she also trying to learn how to speak horse?

Geez, don't they have summer break in Japan? Hellloooo? Why don't you take the horse-riding lessons when you're NOT working!?

I wonder how she managed to take 150 lessons before she got caught!!!! I could understand if it happened 3 or 4 times. But don't you think by the 10th or 12th time someone would have caught on to what was happening?!?! But no! She abandons her class 149 times in a row without getting caught!!!!! Only on the 150th time she gets caught!! Who in the heck is running this school anyway? But if a student left class early even once.....detention for life!!! lol!
