THE irreplaceable Amy Poehler will not be replaced on "Saturday Night Live."

Seth Meyers, who co-anchors the show's centerpiece feature - "Weekend Update" - will be anchoring alone, at least for a while, "SNL" creator/executive producer Lorne Michaels told The Post yesterday.

"He's going to be doing ['Update'] solo for the foreseeable future," Michaels said.

Meyers anchored the segment alone last Saturday, the same day Poehler gave birth to son Archie (dad is actor Will Arnett).

BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

sure, he could do it alone, but it is better as a team - I'd like to see Casey Wilson or Keenan as the co-anchor

I actually found last week's WU the most enjoyable it's been in some time.

I know everyone leaves SNL eventually (except Darrell Hammond, he'll be doing SNL until he's on his deathbed, lol), but I'm surprised Amy isn't coming back after maternity leave. There really isn't a female successor on SNL to take her place, so she should reconsider coming back after her six weeks are up because she's loved there. Hopefully she'll be a Tina Fey type and continue to have success post-SNL and not be a Cheri Oteri type

update can be done by two or even three men. it doesn't have to be mixed gender.

god you guys are making me feel elderly.

I remember watching SNL in the 90's where Dennis Miller, Kevin Nealon, Norm MacDonald and Colin Quinn all did Weekend Update... ON THEIR OWN. It's not an unheard concept.

Even though I was too young in the 90's to watch SNL I loved Norm MacDonald's WU he was so funny from the clips I have seen.
And I love Seth I bet he can do it. I kind of want Hader to co anchor with him...
And love your avatar by the way. :D

Blah, I just don't think he can hold it on his own.

he can't. that's why he had 10,000 guests the first week he tried it solo

with all due respect, Amy wasn't expected to go into labor for another two weeks and it caught everyone off-guard last week after everything was written. I'd say give him this week to see if he can rise to the challenge with preparation
