She imagines that there is an audience right in front of her. Now as Pearl is written to be from the styx aka backwoods hills (like the rest of Jed's clan) it is interesting to note in her delusion there are no men in overalls or women dressed country style in the imagined audience (its really stock footage of a reallife audience!). Everybody in the imagined audience looks regularly dressed. I realize Pearl has been in Beverly Hills for a few days and she's seen people dress less countryish but there still should be a few country types in her delusion!

Not if she's dreaming of being a star she may have wanted to lose the country. Remember the ep where she went on a shopping spree and borrowed the limo, her new clothes were stylish and up to date.

There was an ep where Pearl bought outfits for everyone to lose the "country style". I remember that it was funny - didn't she get tights for Jethro ? So in her fantasy it would be OK if she wanted everyone in city-slicker outfits.

That was when Pearl was trying to get everybody to be "High-Society" folk!

Pearl srtuck me as a little insane anyway. I don't think she really wanted to be southern and was probably trying to reject it.

I disagree. She is new to BH in this ep (applying real life logic to this make believe) and she doesn't know enough about big city life to even know that not all big city folks don't wear overalls. She is behind the times and thinks Valentino is still alive. Incredible fight I have on my hands with this posting but larger numbers don't convince me at all that I'm wrong even one bit. At least two or 3 folks in the audience should have overalls and the rest could be seemingly big city types. It's stock footage--like I said. She almost couldn't get it that accurately pedestrian-big cityish in dress! If it was Kate Bradley envisioning this it would have been ok!!!!!

(PS She won't start wearing her big city wig and clothes till another LATER ep!)Also, some body was bugged that in a color ep Granny liked John Wayne when she was supposed to be into earlier 20th century cowboy actors like William S. Hart. But by the color eps the Hillbillies have been in BH for about 3 years or more so that isn't too uneven one bit (as long as Granny makes no mention of always being into John Wayne movies for thirty years say)!

What was the name of the episode where she buys everyone up to date clothes? Thanks.
