There seems to be a lot coming out this week. Are you adding anything new to your collection?

[Note: I forgot to click "allow multiple choices" on the poll - so just select your favorite DVD set of the week and then type out the others in a post if you would like].

Sister Sister looks tempting.

I have most of Good Times on individual sets and I'm sticking to those.

I voted for The Flinstones but also like Donna Reed, Little Rascals

Buffyboy, you forgot to add "Doris Day Christmas Memories". Even though I have all 5 seasons I will be picking this up for the specials features

lol....I was just about to type that October 28 is such a big release day, the next being Nov. 11, that I was looking for multiple purchases....anyway I put in Donna Reed since they did such a professional job with it (see thread, Donna Reed Season 1, fantastic job)........besides Donna Reed, Doris Day Christmas Memories (unedited christmas episodes, see thread relating to that topic under doris show), The Little Rascals and not a show but some might want to remember The complete Universal pictures boxset of Abbott & Costello with "It Ain't Hay" making its DVD debut within.

The only one on the list that I'm interested in is The Flintstones complete series, but I already have the individual seasons so I'll just stick with those.

Donna Reed Show, Father Knows Best, My Three Sons, Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Andy Griffith, Partridge Family, none of these shows have ever really struck a chord with me. While I'm curious to see some episodes, I'm not a fan of these shows to the point where I will rush out and buy the DVD. Any old show is better than the junk that's made today, but some old shows are more to my liking than others. The shows that are at the top on my list of favorites are the ones I buy on DVD. The next two DVD's I plan to buy are Gomer Pyle season five and Emergency! season five. Shows that are on my wish list waiting to be released are All In The Family season seven and Flying Nun season three.

Same here. Nothing of interest to me this week. Waiting for "The Lucy Show" to debut on dvd along with more "Facts Of Life", "Hart to Hart", "Gimme a Break!", "What's Happening Now!!" and, hopefully, some short-lived series that they would release complete series sets.

McHale's Navy is another old show that's never clicked with me. I generally don't care for military or rural sitcoms, but I do like Gomer Pyle and Green Acres.

Beware of The Flintstones complete series inferior packaging. The discs are housed in slide out holders and the recorded surface of the discs can get easily scratched unless you're real careful. The packaging of the individual season sets, while nothing to rave about either, is better.

Sorry about that, but I mostly only list the new DVD sets in the polls. I always list the option of "other" for single disc tv shows, best-of episodes, tv show movies, specials, etc. :)

Sister Sister for me (already got me copy today!)

I'm thinking of getting the Newsradio set sometime down the road. Sure, the packaging sucks, but I don't own the season sets, and a price like that is hard to pass up for so much material.

Thanks for the warning Lee.
I try to be very careful when handling DVDs. Dont you just love getting a package from amazon, deepdiscount etc... and hearing the disc sliding around the dvd case . My Night Stalker movies dvd arrived loose and very badly scratched, but it still worked.

You're welcome. I know what you mean about loose discs. I had to get three sets of I Dream Of Jeannie season 3 before I got a good set. The first set had a loose disc inside the case, the disc was all marked up so I sent the set back. The second set I got had a disc missing, so I sent that one back. Then the third time I finally got a good set. Hallelujah.

When I got Gomer Pyle season three, one of those discs was damaged also. The disc plays OK so I didn't return the set, but eventually I'll probably purchase another set in case that bad disc starts causing havoc in my DVD player.

The one thing I do like about The Flintstones complete series is there are no two sided discs. Each individual season previously issued has one two sided disc. And I'm curious to find out if the episode The Big Move is the uncut version on the complete series set. On the season three DVD, The Big Move is an edited 22 minute version of the episode. When you receive your complete series set, check this episode and let me know if it's the uncut version or still the same edited version they put on the season 3 set.

Plus the complete series of Good Times is not UNCUT so it would be a pointless purchase anyway

The individual seasons have CUT eps on season 5 and 6 and they are the same on the complete series. I see no reason why they wouldn't be edited on the complete set

Oh, ok. I thought you meant the individual season sets are all uncut but some episodes in the complete series set were edited. It sucks that both have some cut episodes in seasons 5 and 6, but there's nothing I can do about that, LOL. I'm still going to get it.

So basically buying the Complete series is purchasing the same thing all over again

It's probably worse, considering the crap packaging you're getting.

But, in my case, I don't own the NewsRadio season sets, but have always been interested in getting them. So, why would I pay $120 when I get the entire series in one set for $50? The price is the only good thing about them if you don't own the seasons sets.

Well that means individual seasons of NewsRadio should no longer be available-lol

So your saying when a show gets a complete series set, their season box sets should no longer be in print?

Well I will disagree with you.....nobody should be forced to have buy a complete series set if all they want is say seasons 3 and 4 of a show. Would you feel that way Sol, if say Diff'rent Strokes was either complete series or nothing?

Not if I see that getting the complete set is cheaper than buying a individual season. I guess it depends on how much you like the show. If you are not a HUGE FAN then buying indvidual seasons would be fine since u may only buy 2 or 3. Something I plan to do with

Happy Days-seasons 5 and 6 and 11
Diffrent Strokes-seasons 3-6

I'm definitely getting the complete series of Good Times. And I'm eventually going to pick up the first season of Sister, Sister.

It's not definite, but I do have some interest in the complete series sets of The Flinstones and NewsRadio.

Yes, season one (1962-1963) has been on DVD for a while. The first season is actually the ONLY season that aired in prime time, and from what could be termed the "Original" series of The Jetsons.
