View Full Version : New Brady Movie....
mphs95 10-27-2008, 12:51 PM I've been thinking that since RR is gone, there should be one more Brady movie reunion. Mike dies and everyone comes home to his funeral. Everyone remembers all the good times with Dad. I don't know if everyone else agrees with this, but I would watch it.

Sounds like you are suggesting a clip show and I have to say I am not keen on those. They could have the Bradys all coming together to celebrate Mikes life on the aniversary of his death but I would imagine the movie would have to be a drama rather than a comedy.
comedyfreak 10-30-2008, 12:17 PM I'd watch...Bachu I like your idea this would give us Brady fans closure.
Waterston_Fan 10-30-2008, 07:14 PM And they can have Marcia still sober after so many years and Bobby is walking again.
mphs95 10-30-2008, 08:15 PM Good thinking....Bradys need closure.
Waterston_Fan 10-30-2008, 08:39 PM But I don't think they will do it though...
I have to admit I have thought of writing a fan fic called 'The Bradys' MY VERSION but I think it might be too hard...
I was thinking of maybe MIke can have an affair with a woman.
Jude The Obscure 10-30-2008, 09:49 PM I thought this should have been done a long time ago......that "The Bradys" just left so many unsatisified questions. Bobby should have regained the power to walk.....perhaps one of the Brady girls did not have that happily ever after (i.e. Jan and Phillip would be believable). Peter has gone through a series of quick marriages and divorces. And Carol finds it hard to go on with Mike's passing.
but we shall never see this because of a few things--too much time has passed since "The Bradys" and it is doubtful what's left of the original cast would agree to reunite--Eve for one, would most likely have no part of it. Ann B. Davis is getting up there in years and most likely would not want to travel back to California to do any filming.

Yeah, I agree. I don't know if any of you guys watched 'The New Leave It To Beaver' when it aired in the early 80's, it must have been werid watching it without Ward.
To me, I think something like that should have the father and mother orignially in the show.
Johnny be good! 11-18-2008, 02:16 PM Robert Reed would not want Mike Brady to die because of him. Bottom line, Robert Reed is dead, but Mike Brady is very much still alive.

Yeah but what happens if Sherwood decided to have Mike dead?
Besides, he didn't want anyone marrying his Brady girls but him when he heards about 'The Brady Brides' airing.
Dr. Thong 11-18-2008, 07:22 PM I would leave the Bradys be. Somethings are better left as you remember them.
I think a movie focusing on Mike's death would be depressing...and invite too many ignorant remarks about Robert Reed's real-life death.
They did an Odd Couple reunion movie back in the '90s and it was terrible. They incorporated Jack Klugman's real-life throat surgery and illness into the script and it was depressing and morbid. Not funny like the show.
The Bradys are gone, but live on in reruns. I hope they never make a movie like this.
Just my opinion.

Gene Hackman, the original choice for Mike, is still alive and could play the role.

Finally, someone who agrees with me for once. Thanks Jim. I couldn't agree with you more.

Gene Hackman? What color is his hair?

Gene Hackman has hair??
Dr. Thong 11-26-2008, 08:47 PM Gene Hackman's going to take the role of Mike Brady after all these years. Riiight.
Why on earth an actor with a fine career like Gene Hackman would even consider such a thing is beyond my reasoning.
The Bradys are gone. We still have the reruns and the memories. Let them be.

Dr. Thong, you make it sound like having the role of Mike Brady is an insult. Am I correct?

What I'm saying is that Hackman went on to a great career, making several great movies like The French Connection, Superman and others. I don't think Hackman would consider it.
Besides, if Hackman were to play Mike Brady, he'd have to be playing him as a grandfather or great grandfather.
I liked the Brady Bunch movies, but because they were more like spoofs instead of remakes.
I don't want to see a Brady Bunch remake because there are too many remakes out there now and we don't need another one. And I don't want to see a Brady movie where Mike has passed away because that would be morbid.
I'd rather remember the Bradys as they were.

What makes those movies so much better than The Brady Bunch? TBB is a great career in itself--he could be walking down the street and someone could yell, "There goes Mike Brady!" I have not seen those movies, by the way. (I'm not a movie person.)
Just my opinion!

We're comparing apples and oranges here.
The Brady Bunch a career? The original series lasted five years, with the revivals being short term things that happened every few years. Robert Reed did make some acclaimed TV movies and guest appearances, but the Brady Bunch was not his entire career -- it was part of it. A large part, yes, but he couldn't have made a living simply off the bunch.
And as for the movies I mentioned, watch them. Watch Hackman in them and then we'll talk.;)

Yeah, I have to agree. I don't need to see any reunion shows at this point. If the actors want to get together and discuss the show, I'm all for it. I'd watch that, even though it would most likely be scripted (because the "host" of the reunion would simply be some current actor/actress, so they'd have to have their lines written for them).
I also liked The BB Movie and A Very Brady Sequel because they were parodies. I'm not at all interested in what "The (grown up) Bradys" are doing in the 21st century. I didn't even care about their kids in the Brady shows of the 80s and 90s. I couldn't care less about the extended families. The show was about the six kids, and that's the show I enjoyed. Bringing in a bunch of obnoxious child actors to play the Brady grandkids just did not interest me at all. There was a feeling of phoniness and contrivance about the whole thing.
And any movie made at this point would probably consist of them sitting around talking about the old days, with the accompanying clips from the original show being used for flashback scenes. No thanks. I have the DVDs.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Some things are better left in the past.
