SNL seems to have reached a high that it hasn't had in many years of late with all of the political satire. But IMO, those opening political sketches are the best thing while the majority of the skits (save Weekend Update and some of the musical guests) are just as lackluster as they ever were. Obama vs. McCain humor is going to lose its bite quickly as soon as the election happens, plus... Amy Poehler, pretty much the only decent female who was left on the show is not returning to SNL from maternity leave, so she's gone, much like Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, Maya Rudolph and the majority of the cast players who were the saving grace in the past several seasons. I forsee Bill Hader having a post-SNL career because he's in Judd Apatow's good graces, but that's about it with the current cast.

I've been watching lately but tonight for instance, outside of the opening sketch, Weekend Update and the two Coldplay songs, I found myself tuning out while we saw unfunny sketches about sex offenders and several references to Mad Men, which I have no desire to watch, simply because the host was on that show (hmmm, why have we never seen Seinfeld spoofs when Julia Louis-Dreyfus is hosting? At least people watched that show! LOL).

I didn't watch last night's show, but I do notice that I've been watching pretty much for the political skits only. The past couple weeks I've tried to enjoy most other parts of the show but I just can't.
