I was helping my parents clean through some things and we organized all of our VHS tapes. They told me that I can keep whatever I want from their collection. Some of these tapes are old and some of them are fairly recent; all original releases.

Are any of these good? You don't have to give a rundown on the whole list but what do you like/dislike from this:

Santa Claus: The Movie (1985) - John Lithgow

City Of Angels is good but it's got one of those endings that pisses everyone who watches it off. I have never met one person who wasn't angry with the way it ended.

The Mirror Has Two Faces is very cute. Depends on your tolerance level for Barbra Streisand, but it's one of her better latter day roles and a very cute love story. All in all, depends on if you like Babs or not.

I am a "chick flick" lover, but Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood did not live up to any of the expectations I had. If you're expecting another Fried Green Tomatoes (which is what the previews made it out to be like), you'll be hugely disappointed.

I absolutely LOVE the Bridges of Madison County! Incredibly romantic movie! Judging by your username, James, I take it that you are male. "BOMC" is definitely a woman's movie, simply for the romance that the whole movie has. My husband hates it and I love it, so that should tell you something right there.

City Of Angels-Well, I started out loving this film but I ended up hating it totally. I hated the ending and wished it would have turned out differently-VERY differently!

Ya Ya Sisterhood-Read the book, but found it pretty boring toward the middle of it. The movie is okay, but not great at all, IMO.

The Mirror Has Two Faces is great if you like Jeff Bridges. In fact this is one of the few movies that I like him in. I love Barbara Streisand in this. Lauren Bacall is in it too. She plays Barbara Streisand's mom! I love this move, but it's another romantic comedy. This is one of those movies I love more every time I see it!

Showboat is one of my favorite musicals. I love Howard Keel's voice and him.

It wasn't a huge box office success, but I enjoy watching "Santa Claus"
(1985) every Christmas (I taped it many years ago, when it aired on television). Directed by Jeannot Szwarc, it stars Dudley Moore, John Lithgow
and David Huddleston (as Claus). Critic Leonard Maltin summed it up well:
"Story of how Santa came to be starts out so wonderfully--with eye-filling
looks at his North Pole toy factory, reindeer, and sleigh--that it's too bad the
rest of the film (with contemporary tale of humbug kid and greedy toy magnate) can't measure up. Still entertaining, just a bit less magical than it
should have been." The supporting cast also includes Burgess Meredith. I
might add that, in my opinion, Huddleston's portrayal of Santa Claus is perhaps the best since Edmund Gwenn's Oscar-winning turn in the original
"Miracle on 34th Street." Lithgow is a bit over-the-top as the villain, the greedy
toy manufacturer. Dudley Moore is convincing as the elf, Patch. Top-notch special
effects (from the "Superman" crew). The script about Santa's origin as a simple peasant is a
nice touch. Henry Mancini provides the music. Personally, I recommend it as a good seasonal film.

Looking at the box of The Bridges of Madison County I could definitely tell that this is no Dirty Harry or a western. I do like Clint Eastwood so I will see how I like this one...

I'm definitely going to give City of Angels a look...

Lost Horizon is one of the best classic movies of all time. I'm a Clint Eastwood fan but didn't care for Bridges...but that's just me. It's more a Meryl Streep type of movie and if you like romance movies, you'll probably enjoy it. :)

Actually I really liked that movie...I am a bigg Sandra Bullock and thought she was great in it.

well, I've never seen The Piano but Holly Hunter and Anna Paquin (who now plays Sookie on True Blood) won Oscars for it

LOL I don't think I've seen any of those movies. I'm sure some are good though.
