View Full Version : Ron Howard reprises his role as Richie Cunningham
Django_1776 10-23-2008, 01:36 PM I woke up this morning and saw this on Politico: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/cc65ed650d
Apparently, Howard teamed up with Andy Griffith and Henry Winkler to reprise the Opie Taylor and Richie Cunningham characters to endorse Obama. I'm not too big on the politics, but it's awesome to see Richie and the Fonz together again.
catlover79 10-23-2008, 01:45 PM Wow!
spreckenzeedeu 10-23-2008, 02:16 PM That Video is great! And the Message too! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif
Wreckless 10-23-2008, 05:22 PM Nice, awesome news! Thanks for the info and links.

Agreed! This was SO AWESOME on so many levels. I been on a big Happy Days kick lately. I am reading a Biography on Ron right RIGHT NOW. He is one of my heroes and this reinforces it!
MusicJunkie 10-23-2008, 06:04 PM that was really cool and funny. I am surprised how old he looks as Richie now. He looks like he could be Henry Winkler's father there and Henry's almost a decade older
DSfan 10-23-2008, 11:02 PM Great video, thanks for sharing!
88survivor 10-23-2008, 11:55 PM He's the same age as my parents, though. How about that?
Schmoopie 10-24-2008, 04:12 AM OMG, I love that! Not only do he and Henry Winkler (and Andy Griffith for that matter!) have great tastes in candidates, that was an awesome video! Hilarious! I wonder what Obama would say if he saw that! Wow, what a transformation a little hair dye and hairpiece make! Ron and Henry looked decades younger! I loved seeing the two of them together! It was like watching an episode of Happy Days (well, without the Barak Obama comments of course!)!
Thanks for sharing that!
Andrea
robyrob 10-24-2008, 10:46 AM i think it is really great that Ron Howard has his Richie and Opie wigs right there on standby so he can switch into his alternate personnas at a moments notice, in case of just such an emergency.
eltonfan80 10-24-2008, 09:12 PM great videos
Avilos 10-24-2008, 10:04 PM Can anyone make screencaps of this video?
Funny thing, when I created that post the other day about whether Ron could have had a big movie career I wondered if his premature baldness would have effected it. Like it or not Hollywood is all about image. Of course I realized that he could just wear a hairpiece. Like many other actors do. That just a day before this video was posted. in which Ron openly pokes fun at his need to wear wigs.
Ron is the best!
MrRetro_08 10-25-2008, 07:22 AM Nice video
DrivingReport 10-25-2008, 12:50 PM  I just watched this! I guess someone forced these guys to put on those characters again and honestly I can't stop laughing  . It's fun seeing them put on those clothes and potray those characters again. It's just so strange to see them in a sixty year old body potraying characters of that age...
wayne 10-27-2008, 12:57 AM I am soo disappointed I didn't even bother to watch it. I guess Ron is so rich he doesn't care that Obama's "tax breaks" are going to cost taxpayers a lot more in the long run. Like Stevenson in 56 I sure pray that Obama loses bigtime
ponytail 10-27-2008, 05:48 AM Thanks for sharing that with us Django_1776! Very cool video, even though I'm undecided it was a cool video.
OH Nuts! 10-27-2008, 07:13 AM OMG, I love that! Not only do he and Henry Winkler (and Andy Griffith for that matter!) have great tastes in candidates, that was an awesome video! Hilarious! With you 100%. It was particularly a pleasant surprise to me because
1-I love Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Andy Griffith and Happy Days.
2-They're supporting the candidate I'm voting for
3-Was under the impression Ron Howard and Andy Griffith were Republicans
88survivor 10-28-2008, 05:40 PM How old is Andy here? They didn't even bother with the makeup and he looks like he is pushing 100 so far.
YoliUSA 10-28-2008, 06:49 PM Andy is 82.
comedyfreak 10-30-2008, 12:10 PM They all look good, it's like they picked up where they left off.
wayne 11-01-2008, 03:18 AM If only they would make one thats not political
dav4463 11-27-2008, 05:21 AM As a Republican who does not support Obama, I was disappointed to see actors that I love express political beliefs that do nothing but piss off half of their fanbase. I think they should leave politics out of it. Despite all of you that drink the Obama kool-aid, there are just as many of us (almost) who voted for McCain and we do not appreciate actors who express their political views. I was most disappointed in Andy Griffith who I consider the greatest sitcom star of all time. Now, every time I watch Andy Griffith, this video is in the back of my mind.
spreckenzeedeu 11-27-2008, 11:20 AM To EVERYBODY, not one single Person:
That is soooo stupid !!!!
If you like an Actor/Actress or Musician, then you like him/her, and shouldn't care which Politician (s)he is supporting.
I mean, everybody has the Right to make own Choices/Decisions.
And when you stop to like somebody, just because (s)he supported somebody you don't like, then something is wrong in your Mind.
dav4463 11-28-2008, 02:23 AM I still love Andy Griffith myself and Fonzie, but there are many that won't watch the show anymore.
I wouldn't go to a Bruce Springsteen concert even though I like some of his songs because I don't want to hear him "preach" about America the way he thinks it should be.
I hate when entertainers take sides. I was watching the MTV music awards when some stupid British comedian said, "Please elect Obama" and the sheep cheered. I turned the channel. ......Don't tell me who to vote for!
I know plenty of women who used to watch Oprah until she practically became Obama's second wife. She campaigned harder for him than his own wife! She doesn't even care that half of her fans are Republicans.
Politics is a touchy subject for some people. Heck, Republican actors in Hollywood are afraid to admit that they are Republican or they won't get jobs and face ridicule....unless they are just too big for it to hurt them like Bruce Willis.
I talked about it with Hnery. He enjoyed so much to do it...and I'm very happy Obama won. Even Italians like Obama
robyrob 11-29-2008, 09:46 AM everyone has got their own opinions, lets just please keep it civil and try to leave the politics out of it here.

sure!! I'm agree!!! ;)
Avilos 12-02-2008, 02:15 AM That is very cool Gano! I was actually thinking about asking Henry about the election when he was in Milwaukee in August. He had already spoken of his support of Barack Obama months before that.
I am sorry that this video bothered some people. It was for fun as much as it was about the election. Ron was making fun of himself and his age! The fact that he needed to wear a wig.
In a democracy one side wins and the other loses. So not everyone will be happy with the results of elections. That's the way the system is setup. I voted for candidates who have lost in the past. Its disappointing. But that's part of life!!! Some McCain supporters are coming off as very sore losers...
If this video had been in favor of McCain it would not have affected my enjoyment of Happy Days or the Andy Griffith Show.
dave insinga 12-10-2008, 06:15 PM this was really awesome cheers to all these guys
Race's Girl 01-03-2009, 10:52 AM I think there might be Bring Back Happy Days with Justin Lee Collins coming soon

YoliUSA 01-03-2009, 08:51 PM huh now that be cool happy days new generation i love to see that but whos justin collins ?
Justin Collins is a British comedian. He's famous for hosting a series called "Bring Back..." where he tracks down the stars of famous shows and tries to reunite them at the end. I've seen one of the specials (Bring Back Dallas) on YouTube and it was pretty good and funny. I think it's great that he wants to do a Bring Back Happy Days special, but the show airs only in the UK so us in the US will probably have to wait for someone to upload it on YouTube.

That would be so cool and Justin Lee Collins also does the Sunday Night Project
