I've been a bit hard on this show at times (although I'm not clear as to why one of posts got deleted), but I'll give credit where credit is due. The episode "Legacy" was pretty good. For those who don't remember, this was the episode where Blair discovers one of her grandfathers was a member of the KKK after he dies and leaves money in his will to donate a library to Eastland. Blair is at first horrified to learn that her grandfather was in the Klan and goes out of her way to be nice to Tootie and Jo(? Although strangely not Natalie-although she was Jewish and the Klan hates them about as much as African-Americans-hmm...). Mrs. G eventually convinces Blair that her grandfather was not in fact, totally bad and that the positive memories that she has of her grandfather are the ones she should remember. This can be an especially difficult thing to do, especially around elections such as this one.
This episode also can serve as a template for one's feelings about Lisa Whelchel, the actress who played Blair. She has very deep traditional Christian beliefs, which include the traditional Christian understanding of gays/lesbians and homosexuality. However, this belief may not be all that uncommon among American adults, and as far as I know, all of the cast members and even the production crew remember Whelchel with fond memories and therefore she should be thought of as a good person who simply has a different opinion on certain things. Darn, I just gave away my political affiliation. Oh well....:p

Nobody has any problems with Lisa. She is an amazing and wonderfully talented actress and speaker and I could'nt look up to her more. If you havent heard her speak, you have truly missed out. She is one of my idols and I think she is awesome at what she does and hope she never stops.

Pfeifferobsessed, i TOTALLY agree with you! Lisa is more than amazing. This year has been the BEST year of my life because of Lisa. I can't even explain the feeling of seeing her for the first time and getting to know her, literally. I was blessed the first time this year to be able to sit RIGHT BY HER at dinner (after I regained consciousness of course) and we got to talk for almost two hours. She treated me like we were friends and I learned a bunch about facts, and everything else I asked about.lol she was very sweet and answered all of my diehard fan questions.lol the ones i could remember anyway. She also mentioned me and Pfeifferobsessed quite a few times in her speeches. im rambling now but it really was the best weekend (until it happened again of course) and everyone loves her so its no question that everyone loved her on facts.

Now I'm curious. What does she speak about?

She always has a question and answer thing and then she will speak her ususal sessions and talk about how she met her husband and how she got the ideas for her books and stuff like that. She is very gifted in that(and of course acting).

"Legacy" is a great Blair episode which Lisa did a really good job with. I think that episode was one of her finest moments. And as far as Lisa is concerned, well, everyone here knows how much I love the lady.

"The legacy" is my favourite episode of season 3 along with "the 4 musketeers"! The 5 of them are fantastic actresses & there isn t a sitcom in the planet like that!

I found this to be a troubling episode for many reasons.

1) Why does Blair have the same first name as her mother's father's last name? ?? That doesn't make any sense! It's not even lazy script writing! It would have been easier if his last name had been Warner!
2) It is her grandfather, rather than her father. You could too easily chalk up the prejudice to a "generational thing."
3) Grandpa has died. Therefore, Blair never has to deal with him again anyway. It would have been much more interesting if Blair had had to confront an ancestor about their prejudice(s).

4) As mentioned earlier, why doesn't she apology to Natalie for her grandfather's anti-Semitism?
5) Later we will learn that Blair's mother belongs to a racist country club. Why doesn't Blair confront her mother about this?
6) How Jo&Blair treat Roy (not very important)
