Howard 'surprised' by 'Iron Man' sacking

Terrence Howard has confessed that losing his role in the Iron Man sequel was the "surprise of a lifetime".

Don Cheadle last week replaced Howard in the role of Jim Rhodes, superhero Tony Stark's best friend and military liaison.

Howard told NPR that Marvel had broken promises and failed to complete negotiations with him for Iron Man 2.

"It was the surprise of a lifetime," he said. "There was no explanation. [The contract] just... up and vanished. I read something implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up."

This actually surprises the heck out of me. I can picture Howard as IronMan, but I just can't see Cheadle in the role. Howard has the body structure, the facial expressions, and the believability to pull off a character like that, and I just don't see that with Cheadle. It was Howard's portrayal in Crash that deserved the Oscar, not Cheadle IMO. This is honestly one of the most puzzling movie castings I've ever seen.
