Ok so the extended version of the theme song is ONLY in the first 3 episodes of TFP, yet why on Nick @ Nite have I seen it on more then 3 episodes/episodes that were after episodes 1-3? For example, in the episode I'm watching now where the family goes to the mall to buy Halloween costumes/Will and Carlton make a bet over who can get girls to pick them up first. Well anyways, this episode I know is NOT 1 of the first 3 in the series. The Fresh Prince Project, Bang The Drum, Ashley and Clubba Hubba. Unless I am making a mistake, why is N@N using the extended version of the theme song for other episodes? Not that I care or it matters because I love the extended version of the theme song, but I pointed it out and I'm just curious. Anyone else notice this?

the extended version of the theme song is TOO LONG for a opening theme so I'm glad N@N stopped using it. Actually N@N should be like TBS and just cut out the entire theme song and have it only 15 seconds-lol

NOO, I hate what TBS does lol. It is stupid, it reminds me of a vhs tape FFing too fast and you can't get a chance to see it lol. It is long and the main theme song makes for longer episodes, barely lol. But I still liked the extended version, although I'll take the main version over the extended.

on the first season dvd? i have it and I don't remember more then 3 episodes having the extended theme song. Plus why would they say only 3 episodes have only the extended version, when that is not true apparently?

What it is is that, originally, the longest theme was used for the first 3 episodes and then changed to the regular one (not the dumb TBS one, but the shorter version with words). In syndication though, they always use it for that part 2 episode that you described. I remember it being like that on WGN back in the day as well. So it's not only N@N that's doing that. Maybe that's the only syndicated episode that they air the longest theme with.

Read the theme song section, it explains it a little bit.

Oh ok, thanks for that info & clearing it up DSFan. Yeah I read that part about the theme song before lol. I was just confused. TBS today, instead of FFing real fast, went through the normal song, so I don't know wtf they're doing lol.

Ya I know, it's weird. I'm wondering if the contract with the show allows them to butcher any part of the show they want because it makes it look very bad. Especially, it bothers me that young kids that are 11 and are seeing it for the first time don't even know what they're missing.

By the way, I pretty much said all the info off the top of my head so it might not be 100% but I'm pretty sure of it, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything. I don't even know how I knew that, I must have read about it like 5years ago and remembered lol.

Would any FP Fan really want to watch the LONG EXTENDED OPENNG every time they watch a Fresh Prince Episode?

For me, all I would want is to watch the show the same way it was in the original broadcast, whatever that may entail. Just stop all the editing and butchering of reruns.

But that mean you would be watching a 3 min music video before every ep-lol

No, the 3min song was only used for the first 3 episodes.

For any show, I just want to see how it was when it aired for the first time. If it did mean a longer theme song that's fine because I would rather that than Proactiv commercials or just nonstop commercials.
