Resident TV Guide critic Matt Roush describes the new NBC adventure
series Crusoe in the latest issue:

"NBC's cheesy version of the lit classic Crusoe is a family-friendly Lost for dummies, phonier than a theme-park ride and considerably longer.
Bland Philip Winchester plays the castaway as a MacGyver-esque romantic who lives in a trippy tree house with noble sidekick Friday (Tongayi Chirisa).
In between gauzy flashbacks to Crusoe's past life, the duo battles cartoonish
pirates and Spanish soldiers. Why isn't this on Saturday mornings?"

I didn't think it was too bad. In fact, I thought it was pretty good (based
on the two-hour pilot, the only episode that has aired to date). In the first
place, I don't think it's fair to judge a series based on one episode. In the
second place, I thought the pilot was fairly entertaining. It could have been
better, but it held my interest. And what is so wrong with a show that is
"family friendly"? At least, there's no objectionable content (which is more
than I can say for many other TV shows).
