It's OK, but it's not one of my favorites. Do you like the music Stevie did with his first wife, Syreeta Wright? She was an excellent singer.

I know a lot of people like that song, but I thought "I Just Called..." was a low point for Stevie.

I always think of Jack Black's rant in High Fidelity when a customer asks for a Stevie Wonder cd that has that song

Definately a case of an artist where the biggest hit wouldn't even rank among his 100 best songs to a lot of fans.

Saddest part of that song is that to people of my age group (I'm 28 going on 29), that song made us think that Stevie was a Lionel Richie type who made uncool soft rock music for our moms, which is a shame because the 1971-1982 period was magic IMO

I haven't heard any of her solo music, but I do like the stuff on Talking Book that she sings backup on. I do like how they had one of the friendliest musical divorces I've ever seen, they divorced in 72 and continued to collaborate throughout the decade

Yes, they remained the best of friends until she passed in 2004. Probably her best known song is With You I'm Born Again (duet with Billy Preston).

speaking of Stevie's female backup, I am surprised Shirley Brewer hasn't done more. I love the second half of Ordinary Pain on Songs In The Key Of Life, where Stevie gave her time to shine when she sings the "answer" to Stevie's first half.

Deniece Williams was also good as Stevie's backup in Creepin'.

funny that everyone thinks of Prince and Rick James for all the female talent they discovered/gave a big break to, but Stevie gets lost in the shuffle. Deniece Williams, Minnie Riperton, Syreeta, etc..

I know, because he is recognized as an innovator in so many other areas of pop/R&B music...
