The last comic convention that I attended (come to think of it, the only one)
was in Rock Hill, S.C. (about 30 miles away), back in August 1999. Writer
Terry Collins autographed a copy of Cartoon Network Presents #23 for me.

Yes. And I have almost as many movie comics (see separate thread)! I
began seriously collecting in 1958, and in the last fifty years I have amassed
over 2,000 comic books of various kinds (incl. superheroes, biographies,
comic strip characters, funny animals, teenage humor, westerns, you-name-
it). I have DCs, Marvels, Dells, Gold Keys, Disney, Harvey, Archie, Charlton,
Dark Horse, and assorted other publishers. I have formats ranging from
digest-size up to treasury-size and everything in between. I have comic
books stored in three different rooms in my house (and that isn't even
including paperback, softcover and hardcover books devoted to comics).
In short, I'm a comic book nut! :lol:

I'm not a big comic book reader but I do love to read a lot and I love to read about my favourite sitcoms. Back in the early 70s, paperback stories about the popular sitcoms of that era which today would probably be called Fan Fiction were big with fans back then and would be a great treasure for collectors of today. The titles I have include the following:

These are usually priced at just 49 to 79 cents. Oftentimes the books are in like-new, unread condition...!

Also, the Whitman juvenile hardcover of Star Trek: Mission to Horatius has been reprinted. I got my mint copy of the replica edition at a dollar store, $1.

P.S. I forgot to mention in my previous post that I got a nice copy of the Gold Key comic book The Governor and J.J. no. 1 a few years ago...!

There are a lot of cool TV collectibles out there, esp. from the pre-video/DVD
era. Other such items include TV soundtrack record albums, View-Master
reels, fan magazines, TV Guides (of course), and coloring books (to
name a few). Not to mention toys, lunch boxes, Big Little Books, etc. One
could spend a lifetime just collecting TV memorabilia (which, come to think of
it, I guess I have!). :)

I still have my Star Trek comics and Man from Uncle Comics, both of which were published by Gold Key publishers during the 1960's. One of the best issues in the Uncle comics is where the Thrush agents invented a helmet device that could drain the brains of brilliant scientists, thereby stealing all their knowledge. Scientists were abducted, after which the helmets were put on their heads which would then drain their brains.
In the ending, the Uncle agents destroyed the brain drain device by arranging for an abduction. When the drain brain device was put on the abductees, the machine exploded because the abductees were actually patients from an Insane Asylum. That arrangement was of course orchestrated by Uncle. The extra unexpected bonus was that those patients were inadvertently cured.

The patients then returned to the asylum, had their entire bodies frozen, only to be thawed out 50 years later, and today they are all employed as NHL referees.

"Dark Shadows" had numerous comics and paperbacks. "Firefly" is heading in that direction with novels coming out, they already had graphic novels.
