View Full Version : Recommended Halloween Themed TV Show Episodes
PunkyP0WER 10-19-2008, 08:49 PM For me, its the second season episode of The Commish entitled 'Witches of Eastbridge'. Its about some one in the town poisoning Halloween candy. The community is very concerned and suspect this unfortunate outcast (Ray Walston) of doing it because hes kind of a loner and is living in this ramshackle house that everyone thinks is haunted. In a subplot someone broke into a local funeral home and cut out the heart of a corpse. The ending for both stories has a nice twist and it feels Halloweeny all the way through. Very good episode, its one of my favorites of the whole series! Watch it after a good Unsolved Mysteries marathon Of course its never Halloween to me without Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown; Garfield Halloween Special aka Garfield In Disguise and Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow!
DSfan 10-19-2008, 09:49 PM Of course its never Halloween to me without Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown; Gafield Halloween Special
Agreed. I remember when I was younger always on Halloween or a Friday night near Halloween CBS would show these 2 specials, in the order you listed them in above. I always liked the Garfield one more, however.
I also like watching Scooby-Doo on Halloween and I'm thinking of watching some Unsolved Mysteries next Friday night, now that you mentioned it!
Maybe some Goosebumps and Tintin cartoons also :)
andress_jade 10-19-2008, 09:56 PM The Dr. Quinn Halloween episodes from each season were pretty good. The story lines were very creative and the costumes they had were really cool. I liked the one when Michaela was being "haunted" by Abagail's ghost.
The Roseanne Halloween episodes were good. They were really funny and creative. My most favorite was from Season 1 when they had the haunted house in the house. I liked the one when Roseanne and Dan scared Kathy Bowman. It was hilarious! I couldn't stand Kathy.
Some of the Home Improvement Halloween episodes were neat. I liked the one where they had the haunted house in the basement. I also like the one where they played a trick on Tim, making him think that he killed Wilson. That one was funny.

LOL I was going to say a Scooby Doo marathon too but didn't want to hog all the good suggestions! Any episode of Scooby Doo can pretty much be considered Halloween themed.
Roseanne.
I literally can not wait for Oxygen to roll out the marathon next week.
Schmoopie 10-20-2008, 03:08 AM My all time favorite Halloween themed episode didn't even air around Halloween! In June of 2004 or whenever it was, Monk did a Halloween-themed episode that has become my all-time favorite. It's hilarious and it makes me cry as well. Very touching episode involving Adrian's brother, Ambrose. It's called "Mr. Monk Goes Home Again."

i remember when cbs aired them back to back too. those were the good old days! now abc has the rights to all the peanuts specials (i preferrred them on cbs as cbs back in the day seemed like the home of all the holiday specials: peanuts specials, garfield special, rudolph, frosty and wizard of oz - not really a special but i remember them always playing it near thanksgiving). anyway it seems like the garfield specials have been given up on completely, i haven't seen them aired on any of the networks in years. abc family has a lot of the xmas specials but to me its not the same as watching it on one of the 3 orig. networks, cbs.
catlover79 10-20-2008, 12:49 PM I recommend all the Bewitched Halloween episodes as well as Garfield Halloween.

which season is it where Darrin has to do the campaign for Halloween candy and Sam is offended about how he draws the witches in the ads?
ekkostar 10-20-2008, 02:41 PM All of the Roseanne Halloween episodes are solid and the Night Court Halloween episodes were pretty cool until the arc where Harry hooked up with Margaret and lost his Halloween spirit (Mac fools Dan with an "obituary from the future"? Lame). I suppose you could count 'The Guy Named Phantom' episode if you wanted to because of the costume ball and Dan losing it with cardboard cutouts down in the sub-sub-basement.
DSfan 10-20-2008, 03:17 PM I agree about HI having good Halloween episodes. They seem to have good holiday episodes altogether, along with Christmas episodes.
Boy Meets World, I don't know if it originally aired around Halloween, but I love the episode where Shawn has a dream that he is a killer and Jennifer Love Hewitt guest stars. They also, however, had a terrible Halloween episode where Eric was dating a girl played by Candace Cameron, it was awful.
Jude The Obscure 10-20-2008, 03:49 PM Love the Peanuts one and every Bewitched halloween episode.....The Brady Bunch's episode about the kids one upping one another in the scare department is fun (even though it is NOT a Halloween episode). I miss the old Bugs Bunny Howl-O-Ween Special :( And they haven't played "Halloween is Grinch Night" in what 20+ years?

 My personal favorite Bewitched Halloween is from Season 2 - "Trick or Treat". That's when Endora turns Darrin into a werewolf.
Ohio8 10-20-2008, 07:26 PM The "Trick or Treatment" epsiode from the final season of M*A*S*H.
Lorimar Television 10-21-2008, 12:54 PM Reba had a good Halloween episode, where she was trying to get one of the kids to take over her family's tradition of scaring, and they make her think Cheyenne's having an affair with the guy at AA and Van murders him.
catlover79 10-21-2008, 01:11 PM I can't find a picture of Jill in the carrot costume anywhere online!! :( I'd like to post it here. That costume and the sour look on Jill's face still make me howl with laughter all these years later.
70s show watcher 10-21-2008, 04:59 PM too old to trick or treat too young to die from season 3 of that 70s show is a great ep .and also for any saturday night live fans who own the season 1 and/or season 3 dvds there are 2 eps that i recommend. from season 1 chek out the ep hosted by tony perkins and from season 3 watch the ep hosted by horror film icon christopher lee .even though nether of these eps were done live around halloween time they have quite a few spooky sketches ironically i found the actual halloween eps from both season 1 and season 3 to be really lacking in good holloween theamed sketches

Jude The Obscure 10-29-2008, 01:51 PM Watched Great Pumpkin last night and boy, I was really irritated....for some reason, it dawned on me that Lucy and the other girls were just out-and-out bi****!!
littlebelle 10-29-2008, 03:32 PM Sabrina, the Teenage Witch- "A Candy Corn River Runs Through it" is a great one. Season two I believe.

You're only just now realizing that? ;) I love the Great Pumpkin too, and Garfield's Halloween. I haven't seen that one in years. Why won't CBS or ABC show it anymore?
As for TV episodes, I absolutely love The Simpsons' Treehouse of Terror, especially seasons 2-9. (The show's Golden Age, IMHO.) I also love the only Halloween episode of Wings. (Fay talking about a possible human heart in a cooler: "I have a human organ in my hands and I don't know what to do!" ) I also love the NewsRadio costume party episode.

Well I was looking online and found that CBS lost the rights to all their Holiday specials after Holiday Season 2000 and ABC picked up the rights after. But ABC only took the rights to Peanuts specials and didn't pick up Garfield specials. So the Garfield special was last aired December 2000 on CBS.
That still doesn't make since why another channel didn't pick up the Garfield specials after ABC declined them.
catlover79 10-29-2008, 06:21 PM The Garfield Halloween special is now on DVD. The Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes are included as well, and I found it under $10 at Target. This way, it's uncut and no commercials!! :D

I remember watching the Garfield special that year lol. I think I mentioned earlier in this thread how I remembered it being on CBS. Good old days....
comedyfreak 10-30-2008, 11:30 AM I'd recommend........................
