Of course, Dennis Farina is no Robert Stack. But then again, who is (except for Robert Stack himself)? However, that doesn't mean the two men have nothing in common. Aside from hosting UM, can you name anything else that Dennis Farina has in common with his late predecessor?
One that comes to my mind is that both men became typecast in tough guy roles. In both cases, such typecasting evidently worked to their advantage.
Another is that both men had only a limited amount of professional experience in working as a narrator prior to hosting UM. This might sound hard to believe, but if you check their respective profiles at the Internet Movie Data Base carefully enough, you will notice that any hosting/narrating work they had done prior to UM was few and far between. But when they did such work, it tended to be only one-shot projects.
