GO PHILLIES!!

The 2008 World Series will be the 104th edition of Major League Baseball's championship series. The best-of-seven playoff will be played between the respective champions of the National League and the American League. The National League will be represented by the Philadelphia Phillies. The American League will be represented by the Tampa Bay Rays or Boston Red Sox. The Series is scheduled to start on Wednesday, October 22, 2008; if necessary, game seven will take place on Thursday, October 30. The games will be broadcast on FOX in the United States. Due to the 4-3 win in the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the American League's representative will receive home field advantage. If a Game 6 is necessary, it will be delayed by 15 minutes so that a commercial for US Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama can be aired on FOX.

The teams

The Philadelphia Phillies advanced to the World Series after defeating the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the the National League's Divisional and League Championship Series respectively. The team won its position in the playoffs after its second consecutive National League East title. This is the Phillies' first World Series appearance in fifteen years. They will play the winner of the American League Championship Series.

I hope the Phillies get to play Tampa Bay. The Rays deserve it. They had an awesome team this year!

It was a great final game tonight, I'll give it to the Sox for hanging it in there and making a game seven, but the Rays pulled it off. I must admit it's exciting seeing a team making it to the World Series for the first time.

Still, I think a Red Sox/Phillies world series would have been exciting - two northeast teams facing off? So sweet.

My brother in law is a diehard Philles guy, and he's taken a lot of ribbing from his Yankee fan in-laws over the years, but his team made it to the big show when the Mets and Yanks sucked ass and went down in flames, so I will be cheering on the Phils for him.

Just this year.

This series could be the lowest-rated ever.

Can you say single-digits TV ratings?

Don't care. Loving that the Yankees, Muts, Dead Sox and every other team isn't in it. I'm soaking these memories and times in.

I don't think it will be the lowest rated if it goes 7 games. Philadelphia and Tampa are some pretty decent-sized markets.

Well, my uncle is a Philly fan but he lives in Philadelphia too.

My dad who isn't a baseball fan but was raised in Philadelphia might go for the Phillies but then he might not care.

He likes golf better.

I was hoping Tampa Bay would win-but that's just because this is their first World Series. At least they made it this far! But in the end, it doesn't really matter to me who wins, so good luck to the Rays and Phillies

If Cleveland was in it, it would be unwatchable since we are definitely small-market. Maybe we should switch to Minor-League teams.

I'm gonna say it now, the series is NOT EVEN close to being over. I'm glad and happy we won Game 1, espec. away on a tough field we haven't played on until last night this year, but this series is not over. Hamels pitched great once again, but we still need to get it done. I'm just saying that so nobody thinks I am happy with 1 win, hell no I am not lol. We NEED to get it done, it's the phillies vs. the world, I believe that.
