I heard Robert Hedges interviewed on the radio recently, and he said they brought Groucho on to the set of WBK once. Groucho snuck up behind Gabe Kaplan (while Gabe was doing a Groucho impersonation), and he said: "That was the worst impression of me I ever heard!" Did this really happen? If so, did Groucho only appear on the WBK set but, not in the episode itself?

This article (http://www.povonline.com/cols/COL239.htm) goes into gruesome detail of that incident on the Kotter set. Robert Hegyes is described in it as walking around saying "How can I go on after seeing that?" Strange that he remembers it so differently.

Not only did Groucho not appear in the episode, apparently still pictures taken of Groucho with the cast looked so bad/sad they were destroyed.
