VERO BEACH, Fla. - A McDonald's cashier called 911 after a Vero Beach drive-thru customer allegedly offered to pay for his meal with marijuana. The Indian River County Sheriff's Office said the cashier called Monday with a description of the vehicle the suspect had been riding in.

A deputy spotted the vehicle, found marijuana in the car and arrested its occupant, 27-year-old Shawn Alexander Pannullo.

Pannullo was charged with possession of cannabis and posted $500 bail. It was unclear if he had an attorney.

A Sheriff's report did not say what the suspect ordered at McDonald's or if he ultimately purchased the meal using something other than marijuana.

Hey Zoneboy.....that pic is soooo hilarious!!! Where did you get that????

I can think of worse things to use to pay for food at McDonalds... like their cashier charging you $6.00 for your meal and you pay it all with pennies!

One can only hope that it happens one day to the cashier that called 911 on the guy who tried to pay for his meal with pot.

And this merits a call to 911?? There's better use for EMERGENCY services (like responding to violent crimes or medical emergencies) rather than going after somebody in posession of an herb, for pete's sake!!!

I think the call to 911 was warranted, If he was stupid enough to try and pay for his meal with pot then he must have been high to start with. If that was the case then the faster the idiot was gotten off the road the better.

People are so damn conservative - and closed minded - these days.

STILL hope that cashier gets $6.00 worth of pennies to pay for a meal at McDonalds one day. He/she deserves it for narcking that guy.

I'm very open-minded, I'm just able to see the potential outcome of this situation if the cashier had not called 911. If you think the cashier should've kept their mouth shut then that's fine but don't get on my case about my opinion.

I'm with you. If someone wants to get stoned out of their gourd fine by me. If I see someone toking on the street I'm not gonna be junior G-man and go running for a cop. But when someone is stoned and behind a wheel that's another story. The guy could have killed or injured himself in an accident or others. The cashier absolutely did the right thing. The fact that someone would go up to a take-out window and offer pot for payment shows you right there their reality testing is WAY OFF.

I agree too. I certainly would not want a person drunk or stoned getting behind the wheel and on the road, risking killing an innocent person. If he doesn't care enough about his own life to ruin it or lose it, that's his business and his problem, but it becomes our problem if he wants to start taking chances with other people's lives.

I agree with you. Speaking as someone who see's the effects of pot on people everyday, (through associations), I know better than most the effects, and I would call the cops on a person driving under the influence anyday of the week. Even if it was my father in law, or anyone else I know. If calling the cops to potentially keep someone out of danger means being conservative, then all I can say is I would be one damn proud conservative in this circumstance!!!

precisely. i don't understand how one can criticize the cashier for "narking" when there's a great chance they saved lives.

Exactly, safety pin. So you guys at SO, if I ever see somebody fall down and have a heart attack and stop breathing and I do CPR on the guy long enough to save his life until the paramedics arrive, y'all be sure and remember to criticize me for saving a person's life! LOL! All kidding aside though, it's the same principle. This guy could have killed somebody had he gotten behind the wheel, and the cashier stopped him. Good for that cashier for keeping the roads safe from this totally crazy character!

Same here, I have no problem with people wanting to smoke pot - it's no worse than drinking, but if he's behind the wheel of a vehicle and is high enough to think he can pay for food with weed, he should not be behind the wheel!!

I think she did the right thing. He'll probably get a slap on the wrist from the judge, but she may well have saved his, and other lives that night.

Plus, don't know if they're starting it in the States, but here in Canada, mainly on the weekends, at night, they're putting cops at drive-thrus to catch the boneheads that have been drinking and partying. When you think of it - it's perfect. Especially potheads - they get the munchies, hit the drive-thru and bam - you're busted! I think it's an ingenius idea myself. They've made it well known so people can't say it's a "sting" or anything.

Main reason I'm so passionate about telling people about the effects of marijuana on a person's motor skills, is because of an incident that happened a few years ago in my life. I was driving with my mom's boyfriend after he had been smoking all day. As he was driving, he was very distracted, and approached a guy on a motorcycle, and actually went into his lane. The guy ended up driving onto the curb to avoid my mom's boyfriend's truck which undoubtedly saved his life. He has not driven since that incident because it freaked him out so much, and if he did, like I said, I would call the police on him. Also since then, we haven't had a single argument about whether or not marijuana alters your driving abilities. It's just common knowledge to us both now. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes an incident like this to show people the truth.

Makes me wonder, if the cashier was a pothead, would she have taken the weed. I'm sure she could of covered herself some how.

Colorado Couple Get Marijuana with order of Tacos

Link (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081025/ap_on_fe_st/odd_marijuana_tacos;_ylt=Av3ElAoeSJTJbpLUKYk8ZnhxFb8C)

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A Colorado couple found an unusual topping on their order of tacos: a small bag of marijuana.

They discovered the drugs with their order from a Del Taco restaurant and called police, said Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis.

Twenty-six-year-old Dennis Klermund, who police say waited on the husband when he picked up food Oct. 16, faces charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Klermund initially denied any knowledge but admitted the bag was meant for a friend after a search dog found more marijuana in a locker, police said.

Klermund no longer works at the restaurant, said manager Ulises Montero. A message left for Klermund was not returned.
