I wrote this in the Donna Reed Show section and thought it should be seen here too.

I think that making a success out of the upcoming release of The Donna Reed show would help to get the Patty Duke Show out as well.

Both shows are under Sony now (I'm not quite sure how Sony ended up with the rights to The Patty Duke Show but that's the way it is)

Sony doesn't do a release of Donna Reed on their own label but licenses it out to a second label. I think it's because Donna Reed is not remembered in the same way a Bewitched or I Dream Of Jeannie is. Also it's in Black and White.

If the Donna Reed show does well in this fashion, it will probably not only get additional Donna Reed seasons released it would bode well for The Patty Duke Show to get released under the same paradigm since the shows share similarities of being from Sony, less remembered and in Black And White.

The Donna Reed Show season one is being issued by Arts Alliance America, which to my knowledge has no affiliation with Sony but anything is possible. Last time I checked, MGM had the DVD rights to The Patty Duke Show. Perhaps since then Sony has acquired the rights.

I imagine Patty Duke eventually will be out on DVD. Whenever it happens, I don't intend to buy it as I already have the entire series in superb quality, uncut episodes I recorded from TV. But aside from that, it's a great show which has long deserved a DVD release.
