View Full Version : Places Where Grumpy Employees Are Notorious
jasonbigley 10-13-2008, 11:13 PM Okay, so we all know we have gone to a restaurant, department store, etc. and experienced a grumpy employee. But this thread will be about notorious places near you where employees are grumpy.
For Me............
1. The DMV- The ladies that work here are horrible. They never smile. They act like they would rather be somewhere else. It burns me up because for the last 4 years, every time I go there, its the same two b*tches working there. If you dont have the right documentation, WATCH OUT because they may get so mad that one of there blood vessels might burst.
2. Department Of Social Services- OMG! These ladies here act like they have not been laid in 35 years! They scream at you and never smile.
3. Burger King- There are a few workers here that act like they would rather be in Acapulco or something. They just hand you your food. They never say have a nice day or anything.
Brad Russ 10-13-2008, 11:37 PM The Post Office!!!!!!!!!
Brian Damage 10-13-2008, 11:38 PM Those old people who work for the voting booths. lol
HuntingtonM15 10-13-2008, 11:42 PM Those old people who work for the voting booths. lol
 So true. Those people are ancient!
There's a KFC around here where the workers are so ignorant and rude, especially the manager! I've reported her several times to the KFC website, and they always send me a coupon. It amazes me how much this woman screws up and does not offer an apology.
There's also some rather rude employees at a local Sam's Club.

You are so right about Burger King!!! Some of the people who work there are straight up *******s!! I can't even go to Burger King anymore because after all the times I've screamed at them, I'm sure they'd spit on my food. Hell, they probably spit on people's food anyway. As far as the DMV goes, I don't even know if they've fixed their door yet since the last time I was there.

70s show watcher 10-14-2008, 04:50 AM most video stores have at least one person who is ether grumpy or whiny
ponytail 10-14-2008, 06:24 AM The Wal Mart where I go has had some miserable looking greeters and once inside it gets worse. Hardly anyone looks happy.
Purffin 10-14-2008, 01:16 PM  I work at a Wal-Mart.
Here's some nasty DMV workers
catlover79 10-14-2008, 01:17 PM MIDAS!!!! The less said about them, the better. I'm still  about the old people who run the voting booths.
MusicJunkie 10-14-2008, 06:15 PM I remember buying a Prince cd that was in a clearance bin at Sam Goody several years back that was long out of print and costly on ebay, and when I checked out, I merely made small talk with the clerk saying I was surprised to find it there since it goes for a pretty penny on ebay and I heard him mumble "do you think I care?". I mean, why work at a record store if a customer making small talk with you is such a hassle?
Doodyville10019 10-14-2008, 07:50 PM The guy who made the comment about the first time the old peole at the polling place voted.....ROFL!!!
Well at least the people who work at these places are making it known how they FEEL about working there! I personally hate phony employees - the ones who say "have a nice day" like they were programmed by Robot World. Guess I'm more cynical than most.
I mean...someone saying something to you that they really don't mean is far worse (in my opinion) than someone who is down and out rude.
Just my opinion - I could be wrong.

see, I have to disagree there. I personally think it's better to try to flash a smile even if you don't mean it instead of feeling like dragging everyone else down to your level of misery. It's good to be considerate of others feelings IMO.
Janice 10-14-2008, 09:01 PM I think people who work in low paying jobs and work with the public are often grumpy. I've been there, and working with the public is difficult. I tended bar, waited tables and various jobs, and it's hard to put on a happy face when customers can be brutal.
SBTB Geek 10-14-2008, 10:01 PM ^...and that's one reason why I LOVE Starbucks. I'm sure their employees aren't getting paid much, but they certainly act as if they enjoy what they are doing and get very enthusiastic when you order a special drink that sort of challenges them.

Joes Crab Shack and Cold Stone are two other places where the employees seem to genuinely love their job. I know Cold Stone they always sing songs and the sort when you order certain things, and sing some song about tips when you drop some money in the tip jar.

He made that comment to you? That takes the cake.

professional situations are far different than personal ones. anyone who understands business knows that customer satisfaction is more important than the portrayed level of entertainment that the staff is experiencing.

Yeah, I don't know how waitstaff deals with rude, demanding customers without telling them off. I try not to be too difficult when I go out to eat because I'm sure my waiter or waitress has had plenty of other demanding customers. And if I end up eating with someone like that, I get really embarrassed.
MusicJunkie 10-14-2008, 11:12 PM He made that comment to you? That takes the cake.
yep. I've done retail before and I wasn't always enthusiastic but I always tried to be courteous to customers and I would check them out and someone starts talking to me about what they were buying, I would still smile and talk with them as opposed to acting all ticked off that the guy who was handing me money merely made a comment about the CD he found that he didn't expect them to have. The CD actually did kind of suck (it was a rarities album that he released in very limited quantities and quickly went up in value), but you'd think the guy would at least fake a "oh wow, that's cool" or something just because that's how you keep people coming back to your store.
