Smartboy 10-13-2008, 10:58 PM Given the type of reception that my posts on this topic tend to be, my guess would be that Hazel Shermet is a rather unpopular actress. My last post in regards to her on this page is called "Minisode". At this stage in the game, it has fifty veiws and zero responses. I have also posted messages about her on a lot of other pages on this site as well as some others. I have a lot of admiration for her and I would love to stimulate some conversation! In my opinion, the parts that she tends to play are very hotsy totsy!

Thanks for the info, Zoneboy. I wasn't sure who she was either until you said that. And Smartboy, don't feel too badly. I think I'm about as unpopular as you right now. I've been alone and lonely and all throughout today and hanging out at SO replying to threads and trying to start conversation on other boards too and nobody's really responding to me either. I've been told in the past that I bring a lot of "energy" to the SO boards but I don't know that my presence really means that much here anymore. I was gone for a few weeks and nobody seemed to even notice, so trust me, you're not the only one. Feel free to PM me anytime you want. :)

See my original post for that info.
SBTB Geek 10-14-2008, 10:08 PM Maybe she's not worth discussing. There is only so much one could say about a forgettable extra.
Nanc and Lisa! 10-15-2008, 12:18 AM I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one. I wanna talk about the Facts girls.:D but thats just me.
Smartboy 10-15-2008, 01:06 AM When I see the episode known as the "Green Eyed Monster" I get a double delight! In addition to the lovely little Hazel Shermet, there is also the site of Blair in a lovely pair of black dress boots which is pretty good eye candy. Ever since my early teens I have had a weekness for a female in boots. The girl who made me salavate the most while wearing boots was Julie from "Gimme a Break!" Wow! I was thirteen years old at the time and the episode that it took place in was "Katie Steals Julie's Jock." Although no one has surpassed or even equiled Julie in that episode, I would have to say that Blair comes pretty damm close!

Smartboy 10-15-2008, 10:17 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Yes, you are absolutely right! That is exactly the lady that I am writing about! I think that it is interesting that her hair is what you remember. I happen to like the way that her hair looks in both episodes of "Facts of Life". However, the time that I thought that she did her best work was on the "Gimme a Break!" episode known as the "Emergency"! This was her second of three episodes on that series. In each episode she played a different one-time character. I would be very interested in reading the point of views of people who remember either episode of "Facts of Life" or any of the three "Gimme a Break!" Until next time folks.
Smartboy 11-13-2008, 03:39 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
I am bringing this thread to the top for a variety of reasons. Like usual, I am very interested in starting conversations about these fine shows! On top of this, I would like to clear up an issue that I raised in my post called "Big Hair". I mentioned having heard from a poster on this site that actress Hazel Shermet had recented died. I had not heard this and so I posted "Big Hair" to get whatever information anyone else had. I posted similar messages on the pages of "The Brady Bunch" and "Gimme a Break!". I got no responses anywhere as you can see! I have since learned that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. After sending a personal message to the poster who emailed me, she wrote back saying that she thought that she read that on one of my posts and that she must have made a mistake. As far as I know, our friend Hazel is still alive! Last but not least, anyone who likes the way that I write and has an appreciation for older women, might want to go to the "Brady Bunch" page. I have recently posted a message there called "Sexy in Boots". The babe who this post is mainly about is Christine Baranski. The thing about her that is germain there is that she made one guest appearance on that sereis when she was a teenager. However, I would say that there are two things about her that are germain here. To start with, she is now in her mid-fifties. In my opinion, just like good old Hazel, she looks hot as an older babe! On top of this, ever since I was thirteen years old, I have had a weekness for a female in dress boots. Blair from this show is one of the girls who started me on this kick. Well, anyone who has seen the "Mamma Mia!" movie knows that Christine is one lady who can really wear boots! Oh baby!
Smartboy 11-17-2008, 09:32 PM Im not even sure who she is to be honest with you, but this is a facts of life message board.
Those of you who enjoyed my innitial post on this thread might want to go to the "Frasier" and the "Gimme a Break!" pages of this site. On those pageed, I have started threads titled "Unpopular Part 2" and "Unpopular Part 3" respectively. On these posts I elaborated a little bit more on what I introduced on this thread. One thing that I have written a little bit about on this page is how sexy Lisa Whelchel looks in dress boots! Wow! Well two other babes who I think look like dynomite in boots are Lauri Hendler who played Julie from "Gimme a Break!" and Felecity Hoffman who appeared on "Frasier" a couple of times. The last time I checked, the one on "Gimme a Break!" had two views and zero responses. I will be going to the "Frasier" site next to see how many views that one has. Take care!
Smartboy 11-23-2008, 12:37 AM Im not even sure who she is to be honest with you, but this is a facts of life message board.
One thing that seems to be quite ironic is that whenever I post a message about a given topic being unpopular, that is the post that gets the responses! This very thread is a good case and point. Well, over on the "Brady Bunch" page, I recently posted a message titled "A Dead Horse". This is in reference to the dead horse that a lot of people would accuse me of beating by writing about the same topics over and over again! You see, in addition to me being interested in Hazel Shermet in her own right, there is also the fact that her late husband was very involved in writing and producing for a lot of the shows that I grew up with. The "Brady Bunch" is one of them. I had already posted two threads on that page about the topic. These threads are called "Credit for Larry" and "More about Larry". As of now, both of them have zero responses! There are some shows (like "Gimme a Break") in which Larry was involved in creating and his wife made guest appearances. In any event, making my post called "A Dead Horse" was one more stab at stimulating some conversation. Sure enough, there was a response in less than an day! Those of you who like shows that came around at about the same time as "Facts of Life" might be interested in what other work he did. You might be surprised! The lead on how to look up his name is right with the response. Less than an hour ago, I responded to the response. Also, if there are any other "Brady Bunch" fans reading this, they might want to head over to the "Caroline in the City" page. In between my post on the "Brady Bunch" page and the present, I posted another message about a time that Florence Henderson made an appearance on that show!
Smartboy 12-09-2008, 08:27 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
I am bringing this thread to the top of the page in celebration of the fact that we are only a week away from the day that the "Mamma Mia!" movie gets released on a two-disc DVD set! I am so excited! Is anyone reading this post a fan of ABBA? I think that they are supperb! I would say that this reality pertains to "Facts of Life" for three essential reasons. In the first place, "Dancing Queen" was played on the radio in the episode known as "Crusin". That was one of my favorite episodes of all times! Second, in my humble opinion, Christine Baranski is very similar to Hazel Shermet in terms of looking hot as an older babe! And last but not least, I would consider Christine very similar to Lisa Whelchel (Blair Warner) in terms of looking very sexy in designer dress boots! Wow!
folbartman 12-09-2008, 01:47 PM I remember her on both Facts of Life and Gimme a Break. She has many guest appearances through out the 80's and earlier -- not very many roles as an actress.
When I saw her on Gimme a break as that annoying sales lady I was like -- that is the department clerk in the Shoplifting episode of Facts of Life and the very funny drama teacher at Eastland.
Smartboy 12-09-2008, 10:32 PM Once again, I am very happy to read a post by someone who knows who Hazel Shermet is! Now that I have that said, who here is excited about the upcoming release of the "Mamma Mia!" DVD? I think that it will be great!
70s show watcher 12-11-2008, 04:37 AM she was also the voice of hennriettia hippo on the new zoo revue and was one of the actresses who played miss duffy on the old duffys tavern radio show
Smartboy 12-11-2008, 04:28 PM Once again, I am very impressed with someone else's knowledge of Hazel Shermet! However, at this point, a topic that I would really like to move on to is peoples' enthusism about the "Mamma Mia!" movie!
Smartboy 12-14-2008, 06:20 PM I remember her on both Facts of Life and Gimme a Break. She has many guest appearances through out the 80's and earlier -- not very many roles as an actress.
When I saw her on Gimme a break as that annoying sales lady I was like -- that is the department clerk in the Shoplifting episode of Facts of Life and the very funny drama teacher at Eastland.
I think that it is great that the last poster can remember this lady being the annoying sales lady from "Gimme a Break!" and put the face with the actress who had twice appeared on "Facts of Life". Although I thought that she did a good job as the sales lady from "Gimme a Break!" I thought it was her second time on that show that she was the funniest! This was when she played a busy body on a pay phone is a hosptial. I have posted several messages about this on that show's page, but there does not appear to be too much interest in responding. This third and final time that she appeared on "Gimme a Break!" was in an episode called "Nell Goes Door to Door". In this episode she played a woman at a party whose skirt got sucked up by a vacuum cleaner! It was halarious!
Smartboy 12-17-2008, 07:24 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Once again I find myself bringing this thread back to the top of the page! However, this time it is for an entirely different reason than it has been in the past! So far, I have posted three messages on this site telling people how happy I am to finely have the "Mamma Mia!" movie on a two-disk DVD set! These three threads have been on the pages of Gimme a Break!, Mad About You and Will and Grace. On these various pages, I have found various ways to tie-in the movie with those respective sereis. Most of these tie-ins have involved actress Christine Baranski who played Tanya from this film. To start with, in my opinion, she looks really hot as a fifty-something! All of the shows in which I have posted these messages have featured babes who I thought looked very sexy as older women. Also, a lot of the shows that I like have featured females who I think look lovely in dress boots! On this very thread, I have mentioned how sexy I think Blair Warner looks in hers! Well, when I watched the movie for the first time, I really fell in love with the site of Christine's character in the boots that she wore during her rendition of "Dancing Queen"! By the way, the fact that this song played on the radio of Blair's car in the episode known as "Crusin" is another tie-in with this show. In any event, I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who can share in my enthusism for this movie!
Smartboy 01-05-2009, 12:57 AM I remember her on both Facts of Life and Gimme a Break. She has many guest appearances through out the 80's and earlier -- not very many roles as an actress.
When I saw her on Gimme a break as that annoying sales lady I was like -- that is the department clerk in the Shoplifting episode of Facts of Life and the very funny drama teacher at Eastland.
At various points since I have started this thread, I have mentioned that the time that I was most impressed with Hazel was on an episode of "Gimme a Break!" Although the two times that she appeared on "Facts of Life" were good too. In fact, the first episode of "Gimme a Break!" that I saw was one that featured her! This episode was called the "Emergency" and I was twelve years old when it aired. Just in case anyone is interested, I would like to tell you that it has recently been uploaded onto "Youtube"! Like most things on "Youtube" it is broken up into segments. This particular one is in three parts. If you are not familiar with the show in general or the episode in particular, you might want to aquaint yourself! By the way, this was the second of three times that she appeared on this sereis. Each time she played a different character. There is one thing about her two appearnances on this show and her three on "Gimme a Break!" In both cases she played the parts of someone who tried to act very hotsy totsy!
Smartboy 02-02-2009, 07:21 PM Maybe she's not worth discussing. There is only so much one could say about a forgettable extra.
I am bringing this thread to the top of this page for two essential reasons both of which have to do with posts on other pages of this site. There is a special reason why I am using this particular quote for this purpose. This poster referred to Hazel Shermet as a "forgetable extra". Well, I would say that a lot of people would say the same about Anne Ramsay. For those of you who do not know who she is, she played Jamie's flaky sister on "Mad About You". By the way, if I had to pick one show as my absolute favorite, I would go with this one! However, just like with "Facts of Life", only seasons one through three are out on DVD! Bummer! In any event, a while back, I started a thread on the "Mad About You" page called, "Is Anne Gay?". It has a lot of interesting responses! I brought it to the top of the page about an hour ago and it already has another post! I would now like to go back to Hazel Shermet for a minute. The thing about her that impresses me the most is how good she looked as an older woman! Wow! Well, at this point, Suzanne Somer is very close in age to Hazel Shermet when Hazel appeared on this sereis. It seems that her experiences with plastic surgery and botox are the talk of the town! I just responded to a thread on the "Three's Company" page and mine was reply number thirty! Also, because of how much interest there seemed to be in this topic, I went to a bunch of other pages and brought to the top other threads that deal with similar subjects. These pages include Will and Grace, Gimme a Break!, Friends and another thread from Mad About You. I would be very interested in any of the above!
Smartboy 02-10-2009, 10:27 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
The first thing that I would like to do is tell you guys why I am picking this particular post to bring this thread up to the top of the page. I think that in this episode, the sales lady in the department store looked especially nice! In my opinion, the cloths that she had on really complemented her big hair due and her facial features. This is especially true given the fact that she was already in her early sixties! She was close to the age that Suzanne Somers is now. The last time that I pulled up this thread was shortly after I saw a post regarding Suzanne on the "Three's Company" page of this site. This thread was all about the botox and plastic surgery that makes her look the way she dose and there were already a bunch of responses. I figured that, if there was interest in discussing how makeup, cloths and technology makes older babes look hot, I would post messages on other pages talking about other babes in that catogory. By the way, there was recently another response to this thread on the "Three's Company" page. However, there seems to be very little interest in writing about this reality outside of the realm of "Three's Company"! The other pages that I have started new threads or brought up old threads regarding this topic include, The Brady Bunch, Mad About You, Gimme a Break! and Will and Grace. I only have a couple of very brief responses and they are on the "Friends" page. Being that Courteney Cox Arquette is as far into her forties as she is, she is very quickly heading toawards this catogory of chicks! Let us all talk a minute to appreciate good old Courteney (Monica Geller)!
Smartboy 02-16-2009, 01:40 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
As some of you probably know, actress Florance Henderson turned seventy-five a couple of days ago. Once again, there seems to be some interest in discussing actresses whom the years have been good to. This is why I am bringing up this thread and also why I have recently brought up threads on this topic on the pages of "Will and Grace" and "Gimme a Break!" The last time that I saw Hazel was on "Youtube" and that was on an interview that was conducted back in 2000. She was eighty years old and the time. I do not think that she looked a day over sixty! She also seemed very mentally alert for a woman that age! The fact that I am chooseing this post to quote is so people will know who I am writing about right away. Isn't it hard to believe that the lady in the department was already sixty years old at the time?
Smartboy 02-17-2009, 11:47 PM I'm sure he's well aware of that and the actress in question did appear at least twice on FOL
"The Facts of Life" .... Miss Downes / ... (2 episodes, 1980-1982)
- Green-Eyed Monster (1982) TV episode .... Miss Downes
- Shoplifting (1980) TV episode .... Saleslady
Bringing this thread to the top of the page is really just one more attempt to stimulate some conversation about some of these fine shows! One topic that I have been trying to stimulate discussion about all evening is that of the attractiveness of older babes. Like I mentioned in my last response to this thread Florance Henderson turned seventy-five a few days ago. Well, by the beginning of this evening, that thread had been pushed down to the middle of the 'Brady Bunch" page. Because of my quest for discussion, I brought it back up to the top just like I am doing with this thread right now! I would now like to tell you guys about other attempts that I have made this evening regarding the discussion of the attractiveness of older chicks. These have included posts on the pages of Will and Grace, Mad About You, Gimme a Break!, Friends and Caroline in the City. I would be very interested in what any of you guys think of any of these threads! In closing, I would just like to say one more thing. In my opinion, as hot as all of these babes are, Hazel Shermet rules!
Smartboy 02-24-2009, 03:56 AM I'm sure he's well aware of that and the actress in question did appear at least twice on FOL

It seems that whenever a star has a birthday, somone posts a message on the page of the show that that person was a part of. Yesterday Kirstie Alley turned fifty-four and someone on the "Cheers" page was sure to let us know about it! I have decided to make a new tradition out of this situation! Whenever an older babe has a birthday and someone posts a message about it, I will bring to the top of a bunch of pages threads about other babes that I think look hot in their later years. One thing that there is no question about is that Hazel Shermet is my favorite such babe! So far this morning, I have brought up posts about older chicks from Will and Grace, Three's Company and Mad About You. In a short while, I will go over to those sites and see if there are already some responses. Although I like the two parts that Hazel played on "Facts of Life" it was her performance on "Gimme a Break!" that really caused me to develop a crush on her! I will be going over to that page in a short while. Hope to see you there!
Smartboy 03-01-2009, 01:44 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Because of how slow the boards seem to be, I have decided to bring this thread to the top of the page yet again! Please bare with me! In my last attempt, I mentioned the fact that Kirstie Alley had just had her fifty-fourth birthday. In celebration of her birthday, I decided to bring to the tops of a lot of the pages threads about other babes who were getting on in years. One thing that there is no question about is that my favorite such chick is Hazel Shermet! However, others that I enjoy are Blythe Danner, Cynthia Harris and Christine Baranski. Also in my last post on this thread, I told you about posts on the topic that I had already made on other pages. However, in between then and now, I have done a lot more! I would now like to give you a rundown of the threads on this topic that I have brought to the tops of pages: Will and Grace, Three's Company, Mad About You, Gimme a Break!, Caroline in the City and the Brady Bunch. One thing that I would really appreciate is feedback on any of the above!
Smartboy 04-03-2009, 09:23 PM she was also the voice of hennriettia hippo on the new zoo revue and was one of the actresses who played miss duffy on the old duffys tavern radio show
I am bringing this thread to the top of the page in celebration of the birthday of our good friend Nancy Mckeon! My most recent post on this site was in response to the thread telling us about her birthday. Whenever a babe that I admire has a birthday over forty, I go to all of the pages that have threads regarding older chicks and bring them to the top of their respective pages. I plan on doing quite a bit of this before the night is over! However, I decided that, before I move on, I would bring to the top of this page a thread regarding my favorite older woman of all times!
Smartboy 04-25-2009, 03:42 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
This is the third and last thread that I am bringing to the top of this page in celebration of the birthday of Charlotte Rae. Afterwards I plan on going to a bunch of other pages and responding to other threads regarding the attractiveness of other older chicks. However, because Hazel Shermet is my favorite older babe off all-times, I thought I should do her the honor of bringing this thread to the top of the page! Just in case anyone here is interested in fan fiction, I would like to offer you an idea for a alternate ending to the episode known as "Shoplifting". I think that it would have been good if, instead of Mrs. G. taking on with the security officer in the store, if she and Hazel Shermet (the saleslady) had formed a friendship! They could have planned on going drinking and clubbing the next night. I think that they would have been great as two hot babes on the town!
Smartboy 04-29-2009, 10:38 PM I remember her on both Facts of Life and Gimme a Break. She has many guest appearances through out the 80's and earlier -- not very many roles as an actress.
When I saw her on Gimme a break as that annoying sales lady I was like -- that is the department clerk in the Shoplifting episode of Facts of Life and the very funny drama teacher at Eastland.
This is the second of three threads that I plan on bringing to the top of this page in celebration of the birthday of actress Eve Plumb. She turned fifty-one today! On a side note, I am going to have to say that I am a little bit sad that nobody took me up on my fanfiction idea that I offered in my last response on this thread! None the less, I am very happy to have had a bunch of information shared with me on another thread on the "Brady Bunch" page! If you are interested, you can go to a thread called "A Dead Horse". You will learn a bunch of interesting things about a cartoon that Hazel's late husband Larry Rhine was one of the writers of!
Smartboy 05-20-2009, 10:23 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Because Hazel Shermet is my favorite older babe of all times, I feel a need to bring this thread to the top of the page in celebration of a joyous event that took place today! The event that I am writing about is the forty-third birthday of this show's very own Mindy Cohn! I have already responded to two threads on this topic on this page. This is the last one that I will bring up before I go to other pages and tell my buddies on those pages about the event. In between the last time that I responded to this thread and the present, I started one called "Hazel in Hose". At this stage in the game, this thread has a bunch of views but no responses. I would be very interested in what you guys think about what I said about that babe in pantyhose! Before I move on, I would just like to add that I think that the regular cast of this sereis looked pretty good in their pantyhose as well! Wow!
Smartboy 06-06-2009, 11:07 PM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
By the time I post this message, it will be almost twenty-four hours since someone new to the board posted his or her first message ever. The message that this person posted was in response to the thread about random quotes. However the thing about this post that intrigued me was that it was about the episode that featured the "lady with the big hair"! I have since responded to this post and started a new thread dedicated to this poster. This thread is called "First Time Poster". So far, this thread has a response from the moderator of the page and my response to that response. Because the times that I feel that this actresses really outdid herself were when she appeared on "Gimme a Break!", I went over to that show's page and started a thread called "Once in a Life". In this thread, I told my buddies there all about what has been happening here. Right before I returned here, I checked the status of that page. That thread had six views and zero responses. However, right after I posted it, I came back here to tell you guys about it. I called this thread "A Follow-Up". So far, this thread has no response and only one view by anyone other than me. Bringing this thread to the top is an experiment to see if I can put people in the mood and encourage them to post. Let us see what happens!
ZeldaGilroy 06-06-2009, 11:13 PM ^It is always nice to have new posters insn't it? And I am sure you are excited that this person posted quotes from one of your favorite episodes of Facts of Life featuring your favorite guest-actress.
I am all for encouraging more posting around here. I hope it works out for you!

Smartboy 06-16-2009, 12:45 AM I am bringing this thread to the top of the page because of two birthdays that past by less than an hour ago. These two are Courteney Cox Arquette and Helen Hunt. Being that Helen appeared on a first season episode of "Facts of Life", I thought you guys might be especially interested in her. In any event, they turned forty-five and forty-six respectively. Up until yesterday, I had no idea that they even had the same birthday! In any case, one thing that I have stated a bunch of times is that Hazel Shermet is my favorite older babe of all times. Well, I think that this reality deserves some explanation. She was in her early sixties when I developed a crush on her from "Facts of Life" and "Gimme a Break!" Being that Helen Hunt is now past her mid-forties, I would say that she qualifies as an older woman. In other words, Hazel is my favorite actress who was an older babe when I first started to notice her and Helen is my favorite who is an older woman now. What do you guys make of the fact that my two favorite older chicks are both women who made appearances on "Facts of Life"?
Smartboy 06-22-2009, 01:03 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Because this page seems to be getting a lot of posts at the moment, I decided to bring this oldie but goody up to the top! One thing that I have done quite a bit of on this board is comparing Hazel Shermet to other older women that I admire. However, for the most part, there dose not seem to be too much interest in discussing this topic. My most recent thread on this topic is on the "Gimme a Break!" page of this site. It is called "Other Older Women". The last time I checked, it had six views and zero responses. I would be very interested in what any of you think of it!
Smartboy 09-30-2009, 01:45 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
Because of how unsuccessful I have been in stimulating any conversation on any of the pages of this site, I finally went ahead a went through the red tape of joining the "Youtube" community! I have already posted dozens of messages on the pages of a lot of videos including those pertaining to the "Facts of Life". However, there is a special reason why I am picking this particular response to use in the process of raising this thread to the top. This reason has to do with all of you fans who do NOT own the second season DVD! Anyone who would like to see the lovely little Hazel Shermet, her "Big Hair" and her observation of Jo, Nat and Tootie stealing the shirt can go over to "Youtube" and punch in "Shoplifting"! I have already left a comment on the first segment of this episode. Also on "Youtube" are two episodes of "Gimme a Break!" in which she had bit parts. I have left comments on both of those pages as well. On top of this, there is a whole interview of her conducted back in 2000. My favorite part of this interview is when she mentions a time when she was wearing pantyhose! What a lady! My post on the first segment of this interview is the second from the top. The first is by someone who claims to have gone to school with her son! I have already sent a private message to this poster and am hoping for a response. I am very excited about all of these new possibilities!
Smartboy 10-01-2009, 12:29 AM Im not even sure who she is to be honest with you, but this is a facts of life message board.
By the time that I get this reply posted, it will be a little over half an hour since I last post a message on this page. All evening, I have been rotating between this page, "Friends" and Gimme a Break!" in an attempt to stimulate some conversation. So far, I have managed to generate a few views but have not optained any responses. The last time I posted here, I mentioned a post on "Youtube" about someone who claims to have grown up with the son of the lady who this post was originally about. I have since written to this person but have not received a response so far. Well, in addition to one of the two "Facts of Life" episodes with her in it being uploaded onto "Youtube" there are also two episodes of "Gimme a Break!" in which she appeared up there. Someone posted a message about an incident with her on the episode and I have written to this person as well. I would be very excited if either or these people were to respond to me!
Smartboy 10-02-2009, 01:21 AM I'm sure he's well aware of that and the actress in question did appear at least twice on FOL
"The Facts of Life" .... Miss Downes / ... (2 episodes, 1980-1982)
- Green-Eyed Monster (1982) TV episode .... Miss Downes
- Shoplifting (1980) TV episode .... Saleslady
There is no real reason why I am using this as the reply to quote except that I have never before used it in an attempt to bring this thread to the top yet again. I think that it is a nice change of pace. In any event, now that I see this site getting a workout, I would like to tell you guys what has happened since I last responded to this thread. The guy who I met on the Internet who grew up with Hazel's son responded to my email! I was so happy! The son is named Bob and he and my new friend went to highschool together. As far as he knows, Hazel is still alive. I am so happy to have found this new friend!

Throughout the night, I have done whatever I can think of to stimulate some conversation about some of these fine series! So far, I have not had any success. I have already left my John Handcock on the pages on Caroline in the City, Gimme a Break!, Happy Days, Mad About You and What's Happening!! I am now bringing this thread to the top of the page as simply a way to get my finger in one more pot!
Smartboy 11-17-2009, 01:34 AM I'm hoping that we can get as many people posting here as possible. :)
I have spent the past couple of hours trying to stimulate some conversation about some of these fine shows! When I first came to the board tonight, I was impressed to see the number of new posts that there were. There was a response to an existing thread on this page as well as one of the "Odd Couple" page. I have already responded to the "Odd Couple" post. There were also two new threads on the "Three's Company" page. I have posted a response to one of them. I have also started new threads on the pages of "Gimme a Break!" and "Mad About You". After all of these efforts, I have decided to see what happens if I bring this oldie but goodie up to the top!
Smartboy 03-05-2010, 01:30 AM she was also the voice of hennriettia hippo on the new zoo revue and was one of the actresses who played miss duffy on the old duffys tavern radio show
I am bringing this thread to the top of the page in celebration of the birthday of Molly Ringwald. You see, at this stage in the game, most of the babes that I admire are over forty. However, our friend Hazel was one of the very for who was already old when I first started to drool over her! In addition to always being interested in what anyone has to say about this lovely little lady, I would also be very interested in what anyone thinks of my response to the innitial thread about Molly! Bye!
Smartboy 03-20-2010, 12:08 AM Im not even sure who she is to be honest with you, but this is a facts of life message board.
While I was signing into this site so that I could post this message, a very amusing idea occured to me! It has to do with how numorous the posts had been for a while and how they have since tapered off. If you look closely, you will see that a lot of posts came on March 17th. I was first going to open with a joke about whether there might be some coralation between Saint Patricks Day and the number of posts! However, while I was waiting for the system to boot up, I thought of a way that I could take this theory a step further. In the first place, I have no idea what percentage of the people who frequent this board are Roman Catholic. However, I do know that Saint Patricks Day usually falls somewhere in the middle of Lent. I have done some reading about how a lot of Catholics (especially those of Irish decent) look at this as a day when they can let their hair down and relax the rule of the holiday for twenty-four hours. It is like a way to tide them over between Fat Tuesday and Easter. Well, maybe a lot of them are giving up the joy of coming to boards like this for Lent! However, on the 17th, they felt that along with the corned beef, cabbage and beer, they would let themselves come here and see what is going on! Now that the holiday is over, it is back to business as usual! All kidding aside, however, in the recent past, there have been two threads raised to the top of the page regarding the episode called "Shoplifting". One poster actually mentioned the babe who appeared in this episode and who this thread was originally about! Because there seemed to be some interest in this subject going around, I thought that I would bring this thread to the top. Bye!
Smartboy 03-31-2010, 08:15 PM ^It is always nice to have new posters insn't it? And I am sure you are excited that this person posted quotes from one of your favorite episodes of Facts of Life featuring your favorite guest-actress.
I am all for encouraging more posting around here. I hope it works out for you!
Being that business is starting to pick up on this page, I am thinking that I might be able to stimulate some more conversation by bringing this thread to the top of the page. My original motive for starting this thread was to express my fondness for older women. Well, one page that has been getting extremely little action lately is that of "Mad About You". That series really seems to be out of site out of mind! Well, early this morning, I started a new thread on this page called "Sylvia's Butt Part II". The last time that I checked, it had seven views and zero responses. Those of you who have a taste for babes in their later years might be interested in this message. After you read it you will know all about who Sylvia is, where the first message about her butt was posted and what the topic of her butt has to do with the price of tea in China! Bye!
Smartboy 05-16-2010, 11:31 PM Maybe she's not worth discussing. There is only so much one could say about a forgettable extra.
Shortly before the fourth season on DVD hit the shelves, there was a lot of hype. Once it was released, there was post after post about the topic! However, just like anything else, the novelty has worn off. Bringing this old thread to the top of the page is my attempt to breath some new life into this page. My original motive for posting this thread was to show my fondness for this show's "forgettable extra" Hazel Shermet. I was twelve years old when I first took note of her and it was she who turned me onto older women. After I explained all of this to you, I mentioned how Christine Baranski (of Brady Bunch and Marci X fame) is one of the older chicks who makes me salivate! Because of this, I was very excited when I learned that she was going to be in the upcoming "Mamma Mia!" movie! After seeing the movie, I thought that the character of Tanya was great! However, although she was my favorite female in the movie, I thought that Meryl Streep was a pretty close runner-up. I especially liked how she look in those denim blue overalls! What a wholesome babe! Up until I saw that movie, I never really took note of her. Now that I have developed this new appreciation, I will be sure to check out other movies that she is in. In anyone reading this a fan of hers?
Smartboy 06-12-2010, 03:00 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
All over this board, I have posted messages about my fondness for older women. Like I have explained to you guys, Hazel Shermet (who appeared twice on this show) is my favoite actress who was already old when I first took a liking to her. Helen Hunt (who appeared once on this show) is my favorite actress who is in her years past forty now. Because all of the "Facts" girls are at least forty at this point, I guess that this is as good a place as any to be discussing this. Well, about a week ago, someone posted a message on the "Brady Bunch" page about a fifty-three year old Maureen McCorrmick in a bikini! Some pictures of her were uploaded and they were awsome! I would be very interested in what you guys think of them! In any event, the last older woman who I mentioned here is one that never appeared on "Facts of Life". This is the very beautiful Meryl Streep! Well, now I would like to add another older babe who never appeared on this series. This time around it is Pamela Reed. Are any of you fans of her?
Smartboy 08-29-2010, 02:45 AM oh was that the lady with the big hair in the department store where jo nat and tootie stole a shirt?
I am bringing this thread to the top of the page for two essential reasons. The first has to do with the amount of interest there seems to be in females who have aged nicely. A lot of people seem to think that all four of the main girls from "Facts of Life" have aged well. Well, back when I started this thread, I did so to show appreciation of a woman who was already old when I first started to admire her. This being the case, I am thinking that a lot of the newcomers might want to read what us old-timers were thinking about old ladies once upon a time. On top of this, a while back I started a tradition that also pertains to older women. Whenever a female that I liked had a birthday over forty, I would either bring up threads about old ladies to the tops of a lot of different pages or start new threads regarding older women from whatever show the page was about. I will have to say that I have slacked off a little because of how few responses I tended to get. However, in the recent past two chicks that I like had birthdays that I would like to mention. Susan Olson (Cindy from the Brady Bunch) turned forty-nine and Shelly Long (Diane from Cheers) turned sixty-one. I hope that both of these babes had happy and healthy birthdays!
