Sound like an interesting read!
From The Associated Press:
McCormick tells all about 'Brady' drug addiction
NEW YORK (AP) - As Marcia Brady on ``The Brady Bunch,'' Maureen McCormick projected an image of the wholesome girl next door. But off camera, she spiraled downward into drug addiction and depression.
Now 52, McCormick writes about her struggles in a new memoir, ``Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice,'' hitting stores Tuesday. She discusses her romance with TV sibling Barry Williams, her dates with Michael Jackson and Steve Martin, cocaine binges and parties at the Playboy Mansion and the home of Sammy Davis Jr., an unwanted pregnancy and trading sex for drugs.
McCormick was 14 when ``The Brady Bunch'' debuted on ABC, running from 1969 to 1974. Despite her role as a sunny Miss Perfect, she struggled privately with anxiety and insecurity, the youngest of four children born to a mercurial father who abused and cheated on their mother.
``As a teenager, I had no idea that few people are everything they present to the outside world,'' she writes in the book, published by William Morrow. ``Yet there I was, hiding the reality of my life behind the unreal perfection of Marcia Brady. ... No one suspected the fear that gnawed at me even as I lent my voice to the chorus of Bradys singing, `It's a Sunshine Day.'''
When ``The Brady Bunch'' ended, she took up a hard-partying lifestyle in Hollywood, using drugs including cocaine and Quaaludes. She struggled to regain her earlier success, landing some TV and movie roles, but developed a reputation for unreliability due to her addiction, even botching an interview with Steven Spielberg because she was high.
After interventions, stints in rehab and experimental therapies, McCormick began getting sober in 1985 when she married actor Michael Cummings, with whom she has a daughter, Natalie. She continued to fight depression through therapy, medication and the help of ``Brady'' cast mates.
McCormick, who is also a singer, starred on the Country Music Television reality series ``Gone Country'' and ``Outsider's Inn.'' She also confronted her weight issues several years ago as the winning contestant on the VH1 reality show ``Celebrity Fit Club.''
As for her iconic role, ``I'll always be struck by how much a part of people's lives Marcia is and always will be. But now I'm not bothered by the connection. It took most of my life, countless mistakes and decades of pain and suffering to reach this point of equanimity and acceptance,'' she says.

Smartboy 10-13-2008, 10:24 PM I am very happy to see that at least this page is getting some action. There are quite a few pages on this site in which it has been months since anyone other than me has posted anything! In any event, I am very happy about the book that should be arriving tomorrow. I will probably wait about a week for the novelty to wear down and then see about picking up a copy at Barne's and Noble. It should be a very interesting read!

This article goes into more detail about her dates with Michael Jackson:
McCormick tells all about `Brady,' drug addiction
By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer Mon Oct 13, 6:38 PM ET
NEW YORK - Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.
Fans of "The Brady Bunch" know Maureen McCormick as Marcia Brady, the wholesome older sister on the classic sitcom about a blended family. But in her new memoir, "Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice," the actress writes of her romance with TV sibling Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, dates with Michael Jackson and Steve Martin, and her many addictions.
Things became hot and heavy while McCormick and Williams were filming episodes in Hawaii.
"We couldn't hold back any longer," she writes in the book published by William Morrow. "It was our first kiss, and it was long, passionate and deep. It was wonderful, too, though as we continued to kiss and press against each other so closely that we could feel each other's body heat, a part of me a tiny part, admittedly said to myself, `Oh my God! I'm kissing my brother. What am I doing?'"
Now 52, McCormick who endured a battle with drug addiction and depression also discusses her dates with Martin and Jackson. It was several years after "The Brady Bunch" ended that McCormick went out with Martin, who had asked for the actress' phone number through friend Chevy Chase.
"I remember him being a very good kisser," McCormick writes about Martin. "But I was insecure and either high or spaced out (most likely both), and I didn't laugh at his jokes.
"Though Steve was too polite and confident of his talent to say anything, I'm sure my inability to carry on a normal conversation or respond intelligently put him off," she writes. "We never spoke again after that date. I've always regretted my behavior because he impressed me as an extraordinary guy. I would've enjoyed a second date."
McCormick's time with Jackson was innocent. They met while she was starring on "Brady" and he was part of the Jackson 5.
"Once we went ice-skating and he held my hand as we glided around the rink," the book recalls. "I wondered if he might try to kiss me, but he didn't. After another outing, he did give me a kiss goodbye. But it was only a gentle peck on the cheek."
There were more men in McCormick's life, which spiraled downward into substance abuse and depression as she struggled to reconcile her Marcia Brady image of the girl next door with her private pain.
In the book, hitting stores Tuesday, she discusses cocaine binges and parties at the Playboy Mansion and the home of Sammy Davis Jr., an unwanted pregnancy and trading sex for drugs. McCormick was not available for comment on her book.

A Brady girl lives to tell of downfall
BOOKS | McCormick bottomed out with sex, coke and Jacko
October 14, 2008
BY TERESA BUDASI Books Editor / tbudasi@suntimes.com
Marcia Brady never would have dated Michael Jackson, traded sex for drugs or partied at the Playboy mansion, but Maureen McCormick, who played the eldest daughter on the '70s sitcom "The Brady Bunch," did all of the above -- and more.
Salacious details abound in McCormick's new memoir, Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice (HarperCollins, 277 pages, $25.95). It makes Barry Williams' Growing Up Brady, where he recalled his pot smoking and girl chasing, look like Disneyland adventures.
McCormick nearly hit bottom with her drug abuse on the set of "The Brady Brides" in the early '80s, when in a quest for cocaine she ended up naked in front of the video camera of a guy she met at the Playboy mansion. The "Brady" producers didn't send her to rehab, but hooked her up with "shrink to the stars" Eugene Landy, who later was taken down over his negligent treatment of Beach Boy Brian Wilson. It would be a few more years before she found God, got clean, met her husband of more than 20 years, had a child and became happy again.
McCormick, 52, recalls these fun "Brady" facts:
She was awed by Florence Henderson's "terrific" figure and frequently witnessed her nude sunbathing. ("She had great boobs, too. And they were real!")
She fantasized about her TV dad Robert Reed and was the last to find out he was gay.
Co-star Eve Plumb was known to prance around naked in the dressing room they shared.
McCormick and Plumb "rebelled" in the final season by taping the show without bras.
catlover79 10-14-2008, 06:17 PM Does she mention whatever finally happened to her dad? (Remember her Dr. Phil appearance from last year?)
Ohio8 10-14-2008, 07:44 PM Here's the book's cover.
Waterston_Fan 10-14-2008, 10:21 PM I'm willing to bet she and her dad haven't made up.
But gosh, I'm not sure I want to get the book, sounds creepy!!

Ronny G 10-16-2008, 05:53 AM I browsed through Maureen's book at a local bookstore. I didn't buy it because I plan on getting it when she does her Los Angeles book-signing. Pretty shocking stuff! Who knew???
I remember the big hoopla when Barry's book revealed that he took "mom" Florence on a date. Well, I think Maureen's book is ten times more shocking!
She credits her Brady Brides TV hubby for helping her quit drugs and finding religion.
She's also featured in this week's People magazine. It says Eve isn't speaking to her after Maureen joked on late night talk show that she and Eve kissed. It was an innocent kiss on the cheek--but that started all those tabloid rumors. I guess Eve didn't like the publicity.
Here's a recent pic of Maureen at Barnes & Noble book signing in New York on October 14, 2008:

catlover79 10-16-2008, 11:11 AM Maureen was interviewed on our local Cleveland news/talk radio station today (WTAM-1100 AM). She sounded so sweet and bubbly...I can't WAIT to read the book!!!!
cablejockey 10-16-2008, 11:31 AM Wow, it all sounds so sad. What a fall! From adored girl next door to trading sex for drugs? All that time I thought she was living a dream life, and it was truly a nightmare.
Chocolate Moose 10-16-2008, 12:06 PM i put it on hold at the library. it'll take time ...

It's a shame, for sure. One of the questions she was asked in the interview I heard today is how she feels about the paparazzi swooping on the young women celebs today. Maureen said she was just as bad as them but was thankful there wasn't the 24/7 tabloid coverage like there is today. :(
Waterston_Fan 10-16-2008, 06:46 PM I am not going to get or check out this book. Sounds too creepy!!
Why is she talking about Florence's boobs?
Smartboy 10-16-2008, 10:04 PM If it is in fact true that she and Eve are not speaking to each other because of what Maureen said, I think that is very sad! In my opinion, it is a real shame to end a friendship because of something as silly as that!

Well, I can understand how Eve must have felt, nowadays people have bad preceptions of you if they suspect something about you that isn't true.
Maybe when people read that, they thought that they both were lesbians, I mean once you are accused or someone thinks something of you, you may never be able to get rid of that shadow.
I hate to use this as an example but like Richard Jewel, I bet there are people who still thought he was responsible for the 1996 Olympic bombing. Even when the FBI and news orginizations have stated after some time that he wasn't the bomber.
Or the Ramsey parents who were accused of murdering their own daughter, how much you want to bet there are people who still say they are guilty even if they have been exonerated.
catlover79 10-17-2008, 11:35 AM You both bring up valid points. Don't forget Sam Shepard (the inspiration for The Fugitive) who was ultimately found not guilty but never was able to live it down.
PracTz 10-18-2008, 11:32 AM I'm willing to bet she and her dad haven't made up.
But gosh, I'm not sure I want to get the book, sounds creepy!!
I read the book, and I'm sorry to say that (as of its writing) it doesn't appear that they've made up . Although, to be more accurate, it doesn't appear that she and the other family members have been able to get their elderly dad away from an appearantly very controlling brother.
Maureen pulls no punches on herself here . And,in the end, she actually seems more likable as a real 50-something person with flaws than the flawless character she immortalized as a teen.
Ohio8 10-22-2008, 07:27 PM I read the book over this past weekend. Gooood book.
Dr. Thong 10-26-2008, 05:49 PM Maureen was my first TV crush and she still looks great. I'm glad she's found some happiness in her life and has overcome her drug addiction. I know she still has some issues with family, but at least she has a loving and supportive family behind her.
mykel 10-29-2008, 01:08 AM For anyone here who gave me grief for talking smack about Sherwood Schwartz and him not ensuring a retroactive lifetime residual payment for the Brady Kids; my posting of screenshots with subtitles of Eve saying Maureen had "a nice rack;" my bragging that Robert Reed's homosexuality made him a better Mike Brady; or my defending of the raunchy quality of the 90's big screen motion pictures, I can only say that Maureen McCormick's book makes my comments look like---well---an episode of the Brady Bunch.
LOL
mykel 10-29-2008, 01:10 AM PS Maureen's book is on my Christmannukahwanzaadan list.
Chocolate Moose 10-29-2008, 10:04 AM i alays read these books and I'm always disappointed. :( this time was no exception.
somehow they spoil the magic.
Smartboy 10-29-2008, 07:20 PM I would be very interested in what exactly the last poster did not like about this particular book!
mykel 10-30-2008, 01:27 AM Hear hear! How can any more detail about our beloved Bradys be a bad thing?
Does Choco-Moose not grasp that, in our lifetimes, we will witness Susan Olson being the last living member of the cast of the Brady Bunch?
When they're all gone, perhaps then, he will learn to appreciate them more.
HUMPH!
James 10-30-2008, 02:45 AM Does Choco-Moose not grasp that, in our lifetimes, we will witness Susan Olson being the last living member of the cast of the Brady Bunch?
I think you overlooked Cousin Oliver :D, Mykel! He's three years younger than Susan.
Bachu 10-30-2008, 08:55 AM I finished the book last night. A very good read. It looks like drugs were Maureens main problem but I too am glad she seems settled now and her husband sounds like a saint. She is very lucky.
I don't think this will change my view of the show but I will likely never look at the Braces episode in the same light again.
It would be great if the others wrote books as well.
Chocolate Moose 10-30-2008, 11:22 AM Well, it was sad. It went on and on about her insecurities, her family problems, her drug abuse, and boyfriends. It wasn't a fun read at all !

Yeah, it does kinda sound like a sad book to read. Heck, I don't even think I watn to read it.
Still want to know why she is talking about Florence's boobs.

Oh, isn't it obvious? Maureen, like most human beings, is probably a little bit bi.
Eve, on the other hand, strikes me as a very deeply closeted lesbian.
She probably had Maureen as a first crush, Maureen knew it and, being the little diva we all know she is, probably milked Eve's attention for all it was worth.
As a gay man who has several straight male best friends who do the same thing with me, trust me, I know it when I see it.
That's probably the real reason Eve was so offended by Maureen's teasing suggestion that they kissed. She was worried their little secret would get out!
Even if I'm wrong, it sure makes a hot fantasy for you straight guys, huh?
Hyuck hyuck hyuck!

I just finished it myself this weekend. WOW. Like you, I'll never look at the braces episode the same way again. It seems to me the real hero of this book is her mother (and of course Maureen's husband).
Ok--so what's with the braces episode? Or are you going to make us all get the book to find out? :) I remember reading somewhere something like Chris giving her a hard time about the braces and that it upset her so much that her mom got mad at him. Does it say anything like that in her book?

Maureen learned a very disturbing family secret during the filming of that episode. If Maureen's mom got mad at Chris, it's not mentioned in the book.

James 01-04-2009, 01:35 AM Thanks for bumping this thread up, Monika! I keep wanting to post that I got Maureen's book for Christmas, but I haven't come around to it until now. That book is a very interesting read, and I am already done reading the introduction plus Chapters 1-13 (about 120 pages).
catlover79 01-04-2009, 02:11 AM My pleasure! I actually found the story of her REAL family (and her relationship with her husband Michael) a zillion times more compelling than her memories of The Brady Bunch.

That's the way I saw it, too. How awful it must have been for a 13-year-old girl to find out such a horrible family secret the way she did. Thank goodness she found out what a treasure she had in her mom before it was too late.
mykel 01-05-2009, 12:52 AM Why is she talking about Florence's boobs? I am not going to get or check out this book. Sounds too creepy!!
That's because you're a repressed homosexual, WF.
Ronny G 01-30-2009, 01:29 AM I was in a Barnes and Noble bookstore tonight and Maureen's book was on the clearance shelf for $5.98.
My guess is that the paperback version is coming out soon, and they're trying to clear out the hardcovers. This is a good opportunity for those who haven't bought the book yet, to get it at a low price.
James 01-31-2009, 01:19 PM I was reading the acknowledgments at the end of the book, and guess who was left out! Robbie Rist, aka Cousin Oliver! Was that a mistake, or was he so unpopular with the fans of the show that she intentionally left Robbie out?
Ronny G 01-31-2009, 09:17 PM I was reading the acknowledgments at the end of the book, and guess who was left out! Robbie Rist, aka Cousin Oliver! Was that a mistake, or was he so unpopular with the fans of the show that she intentionally left Robbie out?
I don't think that was a mistake. He was only on for a few episodes--not even a full season. I don't think any of the other cast members considered him a full-fledged Brady. I remember when he was on that game show with the rest of the BB cast, and they all ganged up on him and voted him out first.
I find it even more revealing that Eve Plumb is not listed in the acknowledgments. All the Brady actors are lumped together in the acknowledgments, except Eve.
Smartboy 02-04-2009, 08:18 PM I would just like it to by known that I finished this book late last night! I read it from cover to cover and it was a very interesting experience!
