Two fires currently going in the San Fernando Valley. I can't see the Lakeview Terrace fire from where I live (I can see the smoke).
However, at 10:30 AM, another fire started in the mountains north of me in Porter Ranch.
I bicycled up to a local hill and took these photos.

I also video taped it and will post it soon on this thread.

I hope my family's okay :( They're pretty much used to it though. I started freaking out when I saw the smoke, haha.

The smoke is a lot less now than when I took those photos.

But the wind is supposed to whip up overnight.

Yeah, it was really scary to me when I saw all the smoke because we're I'm from you don't see too many wild fires.

I've been through a lot! The worst in my area was probably the Sept. 1970 fire which burned from the Newhall area all the way out to the sea (through the Simi Hills, Santa Monica mountains and Malibu).

My parents were smart to not buy a house right up against the foothills... the closest foothills to me are about 3 miles away.

One of my cousin's in the Valley lost her dog in a fire :(. It was really sad.

There is a fire in Oceanside, about 25 miles north of me. And you can see and smell the smoke from my house; there also seems to be a smaller fire in the east county. I just hope, this is NOT another, HUGE fire storm(s), like what happened last year. I spent two days in a motel:(

Awww, the joys of living in California, during the infamous, Santa Ana weather conditions. You guys in LA, are in my prayers. I know, Tony, that you are pretty close to the Porter Ranch fire. I pray for you and your family's safety.

Thanks. I'm just glad I don't live north of the 118 freeway or Sesnon Blvd.

I drove up in the area today and I'll say again I am sure glad I live 4-5 miles south of the affected areas.
Here are some photos I took today and will also post a video later on.
The 5th and 6th photos show damage near and at a house (on Tampa and Braemore). The other photos show just how close the fire came to many houses.

15 homes destroyed, 6 damaged. Amazing it wasn't more considering how close the flames were.
Here are more photos:
These were taken today near Aliso Canyon from Eddleston Park on Reseda Blvd. in Porter Ranch.

WOW, I never realized how close the fire was to those homes. It is amazing that only 15 houses were destroyed, instead of more.

Yeah, there had to be fire trucks at all those houses protecting them.

Here are the videos I took today...

This one shows Aliso canyon from Eddleston Park, which is on Reseda Blvd, south of Sesnon Blvd.

Yes, there are not any fires in my area, right now. But, I hope that the next Santa Ana weather conditions that we have, does not result in another fire storm, Being moved from your home is not a lot of fun!

We are now that the winds have stopped!

I drove up to the fire area again today. At the same place I was before and some other places. Here are some photos to show how close the fire was to homes...

1. Burned area across the street from a neighborhood called "The Meadows."
2. Freeway off-ramp (DeSoto Ave). This area must have burned after the freeway closed. I can't imagine cars driving by with flames so close!
3. Looking across Aliso canyon.
4. Burned trunks of palm trees in front of or at the side of a house.
5. A burned hillside just east of a neighborhood near Aliso canyon.
6. Burned shrubs at a house.
