View Full Version : Prayer Request
tv star collector 10-11-2008, 07:20 PM I could use a miracle right about now. My part-time motel job was officially terminated today. Last Monday, I could see "the writing on the wall" and
knew it was only a matter of time. Anticipating the termination, I spoke to my
case worker at the local employment office; and she referred me to a lady
with Vocational Rehabilitation. (I have several disabilities that have hindered
my finding, and keeping, employment.) Voc. Rehab. had worked with me
before, back in the 1980s. They helped me find training, which led to my
position at the local hospital (which lasted 19 years, until they began
downsizing). Hopefully, they can help me again. The Voc. Rehab. person felt that I was a likely candidate and set up an appointment with me for Friday (yesterday). I gave her my complete medical history and signed all the release forms so they can obtain my medical records from my various doctors. I just hope and pray something happens fast (the sooner, the
better). I know the right job is out there. Maybe they can help me find it.

Wreckless 10-12-2008, 02:01 AM Sir, I am praying for you once again. I know you will pull through these tough times and get your job situation, for the best of you. Just keep a positive attitude, and know things will get better. Good luck.
tv star collector 10-12-2008, 08:27 AM I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you. I didn't
realize how many friends I have here, and that gives me a good feeling. If I
can just find even a temporary job that will tide me over until next June, when
I will be old enough to be eligible for Social Security, then I will be grateful.
Of course, even after that I will need a part-time job a few hours a week to
supplement my income. Health-wise, it is best for anyone to stay busy, too.
Yes, I think that--at least in the long run--things worked out for the best.
The job was becoming too much of an emotional strain. It was not a demanding job physically, quite the opposite. But it was a terrible strain on
my emotions. Like I told my Voc. Rehab. case worker, I'm just not a "people
person" and both my two most recent jobs (the motel desk clerk and the
Wal-Mart front end cashier) were stressful for me because I had to deal with
the public. Before that, I had worked nearly twenty years in an office
environment (at the hospital). To go from a job with virtually no contact
with the public to two jobs with a lot of contact with the public was, I
think, just too drastic a change for me to handle. I admit it looks grim right
now, but "things look darkest right before dawn." So I'll just have to try to
keep my chin up. As my older sister always said during a crisis, "This, too
will pass."

tv star collector 10-20-2008, 08:06 AM good luck with the job hunt! i hope you're able to find a good job soon.
As luck would have it, my Voc Rehab case worker was on vacation last week
(although she did check her email at home). I'm going to try to talk to her
today.
Tomorrow is the date for my fact-finding appointment (by telephone) re my
unemployment claim. But the last time that I tried to get an extension, it
was denied. So I'm not holding my breath. But something had better happen
soon. I am getting beyond discouraged; I'm becoming distraught. :(
Jude The Obscure 10-20-2008, 04:33 PM I've been to that point, TVStarCollector.....and from someone who knows darkness......light does come in mysterious and amazing ways. Trust that He sees you and will help you these struggles!
Doodyville10019 10-20-2008, 07:35 PM TV Star Collector, my friend (and I DO mean that term), you WILL find something new! Everyone on this thread is pulling for you and keeping the faith.
You are in the thoughts and prayers of myself and all my friends, both online and offline. Hang tough - you are one really awesome person - I know something great will come your way soon! Let us all know when it does!
Dude, you've got my e-mail address. If you feel seriously down or need someone to write to and talk with, I'm here for ya! I went through it with both my husband and my sister, plus I know good friends who have gone through what you're going through now and came through. I know it's really hard, but with people behind you and God in front of you there's no way you can miss!
