earlier today I was at a place called Book And Music Exchange which is a hole in the wall that sells used music and comic books and the sort, and I had some stuff in my hand I was intending to buy, but then one of the workers there passed gas and then another worker made a big deal about it and they kept talking about it on and on, and when it got to the five minute mark, I swiftly put my stuff back and walked out of the place.

I think this is incredibly unprofessional and if I managed a place like that, they would get a reprimandation from me. If I want gross humor, I'll watch South Park, and at least that has enough smarts to balance out the grossness. I don't plan on going back to that place and I am thinking about calling tomorrow to tell a manager what happened this evening. It was rude, tactless and vulgar. And no, neither of them were "frat boy" types, the guy who farted was over 30 at least and the person who was obsessed with it was a female in her mid-late 20's.

I'm surprised you stayed 5 minutes after that, I would've been out the door the second he let it rip.

oh, I smelled nothing as I was a bit away, but I felt like telling the girl "maybe if you shut up about it the smell will go away!!!", lol. I've never been into scathological humor and even when South Park gets excessive with fart jokes, I get turned off.

Yeah, I'd walk out also. Who needs THAT?!, lol. :fart:

Kidding aside, I agree that it was as rude as you say. Very juvenile.

I had to laugh when I read this but I would have walked out as well. I can't stand when employees joke around like that when customers are around. That's really unprofessional. I cringe whenever I see it. Good for you for wanting to call a manager. I'm sure that the situation could have been handled more delicately than the way those "kids" handled it.

In this horrible economy, you'd think retail employees would have a bit more class and respect if they value their jobs!

Knowing me, I'd probably crack up and go back every day because that's me, but I definitely can understand why that would make someone just walk out. That kind of behavior isn't something you want to practice on a professional level.

OH Nuts!

I would probably walk of a store like that. Maybe the managers aren't strict. I have worked in retail before and my past bosses drilled that customers come first and we need to serve them quickly/.

You got 2 "adults" spending at least 5 minutes talking about flatulence.

Before I walked out, I would've asked "Don't you have anything better to talk about? Grow up!!"

I've worked a few retail jobs in my life.
There were plenty of opportunities to have fun and screw around - some of my bosses were the biggest goof offs ever, but we NEVER did it when customers were present.

As goofy and stupid their behavoir was, I wouldn't have called the next day. I doubt they'd get fired, but if they did, I'd feel bad.

Zoneboy, that picture is hilarious.

I didn't call, because I think the bald guy who farted and burped was the manager

yep, before the fart. He walked up to the girl and burped right in her face, then a few mins later he farted and she made a fuss about it. What a class act! :D

LOL

Well at work sometimes you need a little fun but that is icky. XP I like to joke around at work and include customers because it makes the time go by fast and you feel more comfortable with the people you are serving because if they can get jokes you have something to talk to them while you pack their groceries :)
