I know that Mr. Brady's wife died and the only time we see her ( I believe ) is the photo that Bobby has of her shown in the pilot.

What happened to Mrs. Brady's previous husband? I remember hearing they simply divorced but I wanted to make sure.
Also, we never see the girls' father at all on screen do we?

Carol's first husband was never discussed or shown on the TV series. We were never told if they divorced or if Carol was a widower on the TV series.

Carol's first husband was apart of the movie, "A Very Brady Sequel." But, I don't want to tell you too much about it in case you've never seen it.

Thanks for clarifying. Looking back, I wish they would have discussed more on the Brady's previous spouses; I think the kids would still like to hear about their "real" parents.

I guess Schwartz and the PTB on "Brady Bunch" wouldn't (or couldn't) mention divorce on the show so the issue was never brought up or discussed.

Also, i don't think they were going for a "serious" show, as Reed had thought, that dealt with the other father coming over, paying child support, dealing with the girls and the "other family". It could have been great but not what they had in mind to deal with.

ABC wouldn't allow Schwartz to have Carol as divorced so he intentionally left her previous marital status as ambiguous. All Carol says is "a few years ago, I thought it was the end of the world"--that could mean death or divorce. But Mr. Martin must have been a pretty rotten fellow for Carol to never refer to her previous marriage and the girls never once refer to their natural father.

And FWIW, the movies are not "canon" to the TV Bradys and in any case, he was not alive in the movie either--that was an impostor.
