i saw an episode a couple of months ago, and i swear Freds friend Melvin had blue hair. i don't know if it was just because the film was so old or what. but the next episode i saw with Melvin in it, it was gray. anyone else notice this?

I did notice that as well- I think it was in the episode "Coffins for Sale" (season 1). Maybe it was the lighting on stage or something. Not sure.
