I am already worried: the "triple-length" finale? With commericials it was 98 minutes long, not 90. In syndication, it is 3 episodes heavily edited of content, and the Bob Costas "Last Call" special was not part of the syndication. Once again, the purchasers will likely get screwed.

Both "An Old-Fashioned Wedding" and the 200th episode celebration were aired in their one-hour format so the finale will probably be ok, shouldnt be too many songs in there either if I remember correctly.. so it could survive the edits.

On the DVDs, were those episodes edited? If the answer is yes, expect the same treatment for the series finale.

Yes, there were music related edits in both, other than that, nope.

However, in the season 8 DVD of " Bars Wars III: THe Return of Tecumseh," content and joke was edited, dropping Cliff's explanation of the plot of "Failsafe."

:) Hi! I saw that Cheers season 11 will have episode promos but will not contain any specials including "Last Call With Bob Costas." This has been confirmed on Tvshowsondvd.com Once again, it looks like fans are getting short changed.
I will buy the dvd since it's good to have a collection of my favorite show. But I also expect to see the edits like they had with seasons 9 and 10.

Welp, there's always my VHS copy from 1993, with buzz from the bad cable signal and a tracking line at the bottom of the screen (but why did my tape have to run out as they were singing the theme as the Tonight Show was coming to a close???? Why why!!! Doubt the Leno portion will be on the dvd as well)

But, hey...no edits!!!

Check just below the box.. "some episodes may be edited from their original network airing" or somethin in very fine print.

Well then... I was crossing my fingers hoping both the Bob Costas and Jay Leno specials would be on the DVD.

Does anyone know of anywhere, perhaps online that I can download/get on DVD both of these things? I'm willing to pay... but I've never seen either and want them something fierce. So when Season 11 finally arrives, I can watch it as close as possible to how it originally aired (with cuts and such *sigh* - not that I know the difference).

So yeah, let me know if anyone finds/knows of anything!

I taped the original final episode of Cheers in 1993. I have a special tape with Last Call, The Tonight Show with the Cheers cast. Yes they were drunk.(hahahehe) I also have various special news clips of Cheers when it was going off, including some epsiode promos for the final episode and other episodes.

That sounds AMAZING! Is there any way you can transfer them to DVD or online somehow? Even a VHS copy would work! Like I said, I am willing to pay for this stuff, so let me know in a pm or whatever, CHEERS! :)
