I've noticed lately a trend to issue complete sets of series. The various companies must be making money issuing these complete series or they wouldn't keep issuing them. But I don't understand why. It seems to me that to someone who is NOT a rabid fan of a given TV show, it would seem logical that paying a lot of money for a complete series would stop them from buying the complete series. On the other hand, complete series seem like it would appeal mostly to huge fans of a given TV show, but since they are such big fans, the odds are that they already own all the individual seasons to begin with, so why purchase the "complete set"???? For example, I own all the individual sets of Sanford and Son so why would I go out and purchase the complete series? To my way of thinking, it doesn't really make that much sense to issue complete series UNLESS there is a considerable price drop compared to buying the complete series versus the cost factor of buying all the individual seasons one by one.

its called "double-dipping" and the studios LOVE it because they KNOW that if you love the show and already bought the individual seasons, you HAVE to buy the complete series (even if you sell the ones you already own) if there is even the slightest hint of anything extra not available in the previous releases.
look for them to re-release special "anniversary" editions of all the better selling series in a few years, with a few meagre "extras" thrown in to entice the fans to re-buy.

I'm surprise that Sony has not released Seinfeld on Blu-Ray yet? Since Sony claims that Seinfeld is a hot seller you think they would do a Blu-Ray version.
Yeah The studios love to double dip on there DVD Libary. Look how many times A Christmas Story has been released on DVD. Now its the TV shows.
I'm thinking about getting the complete Munsters on Tuesday just so I can have the show on 1 sidded discs. So Universal gets my money twice with that show. The studios have been doing it for a while. And it will never stop.

actually, they did have a bonus disc on the Seinfeld complete series box set. But then, Seinfeld is an exception to the rule for Sony, the only show they actually seem to care about

Me too....at least Benson Season 1 got some nice extras, and that's also a rarity for Sony.
So what's with you hating Philly sports? Aren't you from Philly?
