View Full Version : Celebrities That you Weren't Surprised When They Said That They Were Gay
Janice Johnson 09-30-2008, 02:27 PM Here are two celebrities that didn't really shock me to learn that they were "Left-Fielders"......
1. Lance Bass.... One look at Lance and you could tell that he was "a left-fielder."  it didn't surprise me.............if it had been Justin timberlake that came out and said that he was a "Left-Fielder," i would have been shocked.... But Lance was VERY pretty..... no surprise.........
2. Clay Aiken... One look at him and you could tell he was a "Left-Fielder" tooo.... He had that "Pretty" look to him too... I wasn't surprised either..........
Wreckless 09-30-2008, 02:37 PM Left Fielders are gay I assume...
browneyes106 09-30-2008, 02:42 PM I wasn't surprised by Clay.
LuLu Rogers 09-30-2008, 03:01 PM I don't think "left-fielders" is a very kind term for people who are gay, but that's JMO.
MusicJunkie 09-30-2008, 03:10 PM I don't think anyone was truly surprised when Rosie O'Donnell came out. The tabloids and the sort had been reporting on her being a lesbian since prior to her talk show, and the Tom Selleck thing gave it away IMO considering most straight women Rosie's age would never dare be so rude and disrespectful to the man they swooned over as Magnum P.I., lol. It's just like no straight male talk show host in his mid-late 40's would ever be rude and disrespectful to Farrah Fawcett or Suzanne Somers.
Besides Lance and Clay, I wasn't that surprised over Neil Patrick Harris either
TripperFan 09-30-2008, 03:36 PM Lance, Clay, (Neil did surprise me a bit actually because of the character he's currently playing on "How I Met Your Mother" - he does it so well - same with the guy who played Bulldog on Frasier and Richard Chamberlain [broke my heart since I had a childhood crush on him bigtime!]),
But others were Freddie Mercury, Elton John and David Hyde-Pierce - no surprises from any of those guys.
And a couple of best friends growing up - I think I knew they were gay before they did.
so elektrikkxx 09-30-2008, 04:16 PM Lindsay Lohan.
It surprised me, but I'm happy for her honestly and unlike a lot of people's accusations, I don't believe it is a publicity stunt.
And I don't see why the thread starter couldn't have just said gay/lesbian/bisexual or a more correct, respectful term but it's not a big deal.

I don't want to piss anybody off (since I am trying to avoid internet drama at all costs, and if anyone is pissed off by what I am about to say, I'll just ignore it because it's not worth my health or time just because I have an opinion) but I am still apprehensive about Lindsay. I think with her we need to wait and see. Maybe she really is a lesbian and she's truly in love with Samantha, but I still keep getting an Anne Heche vibe from her. She'd been out of the spotlight for awhile for her antics while Britney and Paris got all the attention, so I think she did the lesbian stunt to one-up them. I know it sounds cynical but I think we were all fooled by Anne Heche only to find out she was just a media whore who was using Ellen's fame to score some of her own and was truly a straight woman all along.

that's always a possibility.
but it seems to me that whenever other people come out, people are like ohh, okay. not a big deal. but lindsay lohan was one of the most successful child stars and she had a lot of fans when she was at the high point in her career, so it seems that people might just not want to accept that she isn't straight, just because it's her. if it was someone less famous and less known, i don't think there would be any question in anyone's mind.

true, she may very well be a lesbian, but I think people are just so apprehensive because of all the controversy she's had in the past few years. Sadly, Anne Heche (seeing that you're 15, I'm not sure how well you know her story since you were so young at the time, but she was a struggling straight actress who started dating Ellen Degeneres around the time she came out of the closet, but then broke up with Ellen when the spotlight died down and her career wasn't taking off the way she hoped, went back to men exclusively and admitted she was never truly a lesbian) probably caused people to be more apprehensive for people when celebrities come out surprisingly.

the main reason i think she is truly attracted to women is because she and samantha had been close for a very long time and instead of lindsay just coming out right away all like, "OMG IM A LESBIAN!111~~*~*", she waited and at first denied that she was. it seems like if she was looking for attention, she would have came out more spontaneously.

yea, that is true. She and Samantha have been an item for months and Lindsay just finally started talking more about it. It wasn't the same thing as Anne Heche coming out of the closet as Ellen's girlfriend the week that Ellen's coming out episode was set to air, knowing it'd get her a lot of attention.
TripperFan 09-30-2008, 04:57 PM O.k. - chick point of view on Lindsay now.
I really don't think she is a lesbian - could be, but I think she's in a period in her life where she's still finding out who she is and want she wants. Female best friends tend to be closer than male best friends in the sense they'll show affection publicly to each other quite often. Look at Asian women especially. Many women hold hands but it doesn't mean anything.
That said, I think they are sexually active with each (much more than hand holding, etc,.) but Lindsay needs that right now. It may not last and she'll pull an "Anne Heche". Anne herself now says she was finding herself, and look at that breakdown she had the day she and Ellen broke up.
Which reminds me, Ellen coming out was no surprise at all. If you watch the reruns of her sitcom, she was dropping huge hints from the very first episode. I was so happy when she finally came out and started this whole trend. And look at her now, rich, famous, in love totally and loved by Portia and all her fans. She's at the top of her game right now and loving every minute of it.

I see your point. I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't think she is doing it for public attention, I think either she knows she is attracted to women or she is experimenting to figure out who she is.

Exactly, I think if Lindsay was doing it for public attention she'd have announced right away that she and Samantha were together, rather than waiting.
TripperFan 09-30-2008, 05:39 PM Exactly - I don't think ANY of it is for publicity at all. She's finding herself now. I'm actually very happy for her and proud that she's settled down from the wild crap and seems to have matured.
I feel badly these "kids" ('cuz they're kids to me) have to go thru this in the public eye. Imagine all of us having our bad days - weeks - months flung out for everyone to see and criticize?
I do think though this is probably a phase and she'll find a guy. She seemed to be serial dating like mad anyway and nothing was really serious. It actually shouldn't be imo at that age.

scarily, my niece is a year younger than Lindsay and already married. Tho my sister and I (both dislike our brother) think that the fact that she's a college student going into nursing school and marrying a guy without being pregnant was just her way of trying to get the hell away from her father as fast as she can.

And sadly, that's probably exactly why she did it - it usually is, but jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, as they say, sure ain't a good answer!
Oh - what Dr. Phil would say to that!

I agree. I am there for her, but when I found out she was engaged at 20, I was "whoa!!!". My mom was 21 when she married my 22 year old dad, but that was a completely different era and 21-22 in 1957 is comparable to 30-35 today. It seemed out of nowhere, but she and her father have been at odds for years (he was always away for the first fifteen years in the coast guard and treats her and her brother like they're kindergarteners when both are now adult. He wouldn't even allow her or her brother on Myspace because he was paranoid about online pedophiles out to get them.... THEY WERE BOTH OVER 19 WHEN HE SAID THAT!!! LOL) and I think she just wanted to be emancipated from him. I hope she and Ryan have a healthy and fruitful marriage that lasts, but it seemed so random that she marries the first guy she dates out of high school knowing the way her father tries to rule over his grown-up kids.

I'm not sure. Assuming what we see/read is true, this is more serious than her relationships with men. But that's not to say if she and Samantha break up that she won't be with another guy, that could very well happen.

Lindsay could be a bisexual... that's what I am leaning towards....... ;)
MusicJunkie 10-01-2008, 05:51 PM one that truly sent shockwaves and broke the hearts of redblooded heterosexual men everywhere was Taylor Hanson. That beautiful hot blonde babe who sang MMMBop with her brothers married her girlfriend at 19 and started popping out the kids. Not only that, Taylor traded in her Marcia Brady haircut for something a bit more Melissa Etheridge.
yes, I'm aware Taylor is actually a man, I was being facetious since everyone thought that was a girl when they came out
