Weird that they are starting the program off with cases that are no longer considered Unsolved. Wasn't the Greg Webb (sheriff) case solved like 15 years ago?

Well because the focus of the show has changed somewhat now. I would say when UM was originally broadcasted in the late 80s the goal of the show was 50/50:

1) to provide and interesting show for viewers
2) to solve the cases they were profiling

Now I think the entertainment aspect of the show all these years later has slightly overshadowed the aspect of the show where the goal was to profile these cases in hopes of getting some tips so the authorities could solve them.

So "Spike TV" is probably viewing UM more from an entertainment standpoint than as a viable tool that would help authorities solve these decade old crimes.

Yes it was solved long ago and I think Greg Webb is even out of prison now.

Probably Dark, but at the same time, I don't have the DVDs so I haven't seen some of the cases in the later shows. Also, these are old cases; they never said they were going to have new cases in the near future that haven't already been profiled. Perhaps if it does well we'll get new ones.

Maybe they will show old cases and stories for awhile to build viewership. There are probably new hauntings and UFO's cases they can profile. The Kecksberg case and the Gettysburg haunting was covered on the old UM.

I agree with DD. The show is mostly for entertainment now and the public service aspect isn't as prominent as it once was. I would imagine that if/when they show cases that are still unsolved the public service role is being resurrected.

But it's hard to see this as much else than entertainment when they are showing stuff like Elvis, Kecksburg UFOs and Resurrection Mary.

I wonder if this is how they are dealing with some of the longer segments yet still being able to show five per hour.

I was a bit disappointed in some of the segment selections for the first four, admittedly. Looks like the episodes get better as they go along, though.

Well like they said, there are no 'new' cases planned according to the producers. Just old ones, that you already have on DVD. I guess it's better than not showing it at all now that Lifetime cancelled it.

One of our members had a prominent case and said they had been interviewed . Have they seen their case now, and what do they think?

I have previously mentioned this on other threads at this forum, but I speculate that the re-edited segments are part of an effort to test the waters before arranging any deal for new episodes. It couldn't hurt to write to UM and tell them you want to see new episodes, but I'd expect that Spike TV would have the final say on that.

I agree with you. It will be good to see re edited segments and maybe there will be updates on some cases. After looking through the listings they are several names and cases I don't remember or not familiar with. It will be good to get familiar with certain stories. It will be awhile before we know Spike TV's full intentions. Maybe they are looking into cases and stories.

After my last post on this thread, I began thinking that, hypothetically, if there is actually a move toward making new episodes, the folks at UM don't want to acknowledge it until after such a deal is finalized. That way, they would avoid the making the mistake of prematurely announcing plans for new episodes, only to be informed that it would not be happening at all, and possibly disgruntling fans who were anticipating new episodes. Unfortunately, situations like that do happen.

No. The host is Dennis Farina. Obviously, a clerical error was made.

Dennis Franz wouldn't have been a bad host either. He was Da Bomb on NUPD Blue. I do think they made a good choice with the host, though. Hopefully, they will not get a Keely Shaye Smith.

As an aside, Greg Webb didn't do much time for a homicide, did he? Since he killed Anna Anton in 1986 he spent more time out than he did behind bars.
