I hate it when people start talking when I'm watching TV and ruin some of my TV watching. Saw a commercial the other day and they have this cool device where you can amplify the sound and it works from 100 feet away:

You can also use that to eavsdrop on other people's converations 100 feet away!

I have a better solution to your dilemma that would be more easier on your hearing it's called duct tape.

Sorry to preempt regular programming...err posts for this infomercial, lol, but I think it is useful actually if you are in a house where people constantly interrupt you while watching TV. It doesn't happen often to me, but when it does...I get pissed off.

it pisses me off too, but with the DVR i can always just rewind it or pause it until the offending party shuts up.

Pav, Do you actually own one of these and if you do, Does it work as well as advertised? I've seen them in CVS but haven't purchased one yet.

If I can find Listen Up at a reasonably cheap price, I'm going to buy it. I am a night owl and sometimes have trouble sleeping. A lot of times I'll stay up later than my husband and on more than one occasion I have annoyed him by watching TV while he's trying to sleep. I try to be considerate and mute the volume (thank goodness for closed-captioning!) but you don't get the full effect of the movie that way. I was thinking that if this thing really worked, I wouldn't have to worry about that anymore.

But as for the question at hand, yes. I hate when people talk while I'm trying to watch TV. We have a TV at work and seriously I hate that it even exists, because it's pointless! I try to turn the news on before anyone can start watching those awful "Judge" shows. Those things seriously grate on my nerves with all their screaming and complaining and arguing. People will make comments while the news is on as well, which bothers me. It would be nice if our TV had closed-captions because then at least I could kind of figure out what is going on when our break room gets loud-which is very frequently.

This annoys me sooo much. Always in the middle of the scene and they just come asking you questions and don't even look to see if there is a commercial or not. It's annoying to miss something because it could be important for the plot or just as an inside joke. Like to miss Seinfeld for 1 min could be terrible for the entire episode.

Also, what annoys me the most is when I'm watching a basketball game and people just talk nonstop because they think that you can see what's happening and it wouldn't make a difference. I, for one, like to listen to the commentary as it can be funny or bring up interesting points and sometimes there are interviews or stats and also it is good to hear the noise of the crowd.

Exactly lol. The funny thing is that it is never something worthwhile enough, most of the time, for there to be an interruption. I can't even think of an example right now.

Yeah, that bothers me too. It's always during a good part too.

It also bugs me when I'm a guest at someone's home and they turn on the TV and raise the volume so high that other people can't have a conversation. I know several people who do this and I find it awfully rude. Why bother having company over if you're just going to make us all sit and watch you watch TV? At least go into a separate room!

Yes! I'm a very quiet TV watcher. I barely talk through a show because I'm focused on watching. My boyfriend likes watching my shows with me and he talks through the whole thing and asks me to spoil him about future stuff in an episode. If it's an episode I've seen multiple times it don't bug me that much but if I havent watched it a lot or it's new then it gets on my nerves.

I don't even try to watch tv when my sister-in-law is over here, what a big mouth. I was trying to watch this old western movie once, where this stagecoach was getting held up near the border and she starts yapping about one of the banditos. " I saw that guy in other movies, he always plays a fat Mexican " Getting pissed,I hollered, " That's because he is a fat Mexican, what do you want him to play,a leprechaun? " She didn't take the hint and talked thru the whole movie.
