If you go to the "Friends" page of this site, you will see that the second to last post is mine. It is titled "Nail Polish". So far, it has twenty views and zero responses. In between the time that I posted it and the present, I thought of a very amusing piece of irony. The same activity that turned my on in one situation turned me off in another! If you read this post, you will see that it is about an episode in which Monica and Pheobe did their nails together. I wrote all about how filled up I was by the female bonding that was expressed. I top of this, I thought that the two babes looked very beautiful sitting on their respective twin beds offering each other the support that they deserve. However, twenty-plus years earlier, we have "Samantha's Protest". After failing to convince Nell and Julie to go to the the demonstration with her, she tries to recruit Katie who says, "I would love to Samantha, but I have to do my nails!" This line was simply used as a form of comic relief to reinforce how shallow and superficial the character of Katie was. It was one more reason why I (and I am supposing a lot of other viewers too) felt that she deserved to learn that after all was said and done, the handsome boy from the protest was taking "Samantha's" to a movie the next day! I just thought that it would be fun to let other fans know how the very same activity that looked selfish and ignorent in one situation could look decent and attractive in another.
