View Full Version : Did any of you guys ever move from one city to another?
Big C 09-28-2008, 02:32 AM Some of us probably remember moving from a city we used to live in to another.
As some of you know, I was originally born and raised in Buffalo, New York.
My family lived there until we moved in the summer of 1994.
Believe it or not, the day we moved from frigid Buffalo to also-frigid Kenosha, Wisconsin was on July 13, 1994- a day AFTER the MLB All-Star Game (That was the extra-inning thriller in Pittsburgh).
Fittingly, my last memories of living in Buffalo involved sports, though not football or hockey (I never truly embraced baseball- I never had a team I could follow like the Bills or Sabres)
That's my story.
Any of you guys ever recall doing so?
Feel free to go the whole nine yards- why, where, sob stories, final goodbyes, etc.
howierules86 09-28-2008, 12:50 PM I've moved several times in my life thanks to my dad's jobs at International Paper, and here are the cities right here:
July 26, 1986-June 1988: Selma, AL
June 1988-May 1995: Monroe, LA
June 1995-January 3, 1997: Springhill, LA
January 5, 1997-March 7, 2003: Wilmington, NC
March 8, 2003- : Memphis, TN
Out of this list, my favorite of these is definitely Monroe, LA. That was where all of my Top 5 best school years took place in, and I had a lot of great moments there as well. My least favorite is a tossup between the middle of the Wilmington, NC era and Springhill, LA. Three of my Top 5 worst school years took place in Wilmington, NC, and the other two took place in Springhill, LA. (Side note: I counted the Springhill, LA & Wilmington, NC halves of 4th grade separately when I made that list.) I barely remember anything about Selma, AL, and since I was homeschooled by the time I moved to Memphis, I don't really have anything to hate about it.
MonarC 09-28-2008, 01:18 PM I also had a dad who moved us around a lot due to his job. I have Lived all over Texas. Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Pampa. Once we moved to Puerto Rico for 8 months when I was in 3rd grade. That was the best. :D
Schmoopie 09-28-2008, 06:33 PM Right after I got married in 1996, my husband and I moved from Dallas (Where I had lived since I was born-28 years!) to Seattle. I cried all the way to Amarillo, but now I consider it the best decision I ever made! Well, besides getting married, of course!
Andrea
PS: FYI, I was really born in Austin.
Brieannas21 09-28-2008, 09:42 PM Five months after getting married, my husband and I moved to Chicago and we stayed there for an year and then moved back to Dallas. After that we moved from Dallas to a little city right outside of Fort Worth, but it's still considered Ft.Worth.

I am seriously thinking to moving to Washington. How would you rate life there compared to Texas?
Purffin 09-28-2008, 10:24 PM i have moved a couple a times in my life and i am sooo ready to move from this crappy town that i live in now, i have meet some really nice people here but the town is so small and there is so much gossip. I would love to go somewhere near ocean, thats very relaxing to me.
