Christian actor Kirk Cameron forced movie bosses to cast his wife Chelsea

as a smooching stand-in for his new film Fireproof, because he refused to kiss

his onscreen wife.

In the movie, Cameron plays a firefighter battling to save his marriage to his wife, played by Erin Bethea.

But the 37 year old had made a vow to Chelsea - his wife of 17 years and the mother of his six children - that he would never kiss another woman on oroff-screen, so she was brought onto the set for a romantic scene.

Cameron, a partner in evangelical Christian ministry The Way of the Master, explains, "In Fireproof, there is a romantic and touching scene where he (character) kisses his wife.

"Because I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman, my wife Chelsea came in to the set and wore the dress my character's wife wore. We shot the scene in silhouette, so when I kiss my wife, I'm actually kissing my wife

and honouring our marriage.

"It's a personal commitment I have made to my wife."

That is so romantic! The movie sounds good, and I've always liked Kirk Cameron. Wow, that is amazing that he's 37 years old and has been married for 17 years!:eek3: The years sure have passed quickly, haven't they?

You know what?

It probably would have been easier to write the kissing scene out of the movie, rather than put up with your crap Kirk.

Dude, you are an actor. Either play the part or not.

He must have alot of clout! So many directors etc. would have said, you do the job or we will find someone that will! Now, I do admire the loyality, but he is an actor and that is what they do! I'm very impressed that he has been married to the same woman for 17yrs. That today is amazing! I'm happy for them.

Good for you Kirk! I for one respect your values. It's good to know there are still people in the world who have their priorities straight.:)

Wonder why they didn't just cast Chelsea in the role? Weird.... but I still think it's sweet.

I understand that he's extremely strict with his religious views (we're talking probably the one and only heterosexual 19 year old man who would actually be turned off co-starring with a former Playboy bunny), but I think this is just too funny. I understand why he'd never cheat on his wife, but you have to remember on a movie set, there's 20-30 camera-men, lightning people, and so forth behind the camera that it's hardly like it'd be an enjoyable makeout session anyways. It's like an actress (I forgot who) talked about when asked about a love scene she did, it was more embarassing for her being in her bra making out with some guy with some 25-30 people watching her behind the set.

After finally seeing "Fireproof" I have to say that if this information about his wife being the only one he will kiss hadn't been released, no one would know the difference at all. The woman who plays his wife looks exactly like Chelsea and I can see how it was easy to use her as the actresses' "double". I thought they were going to blur out the scenes or make them really dark (I think they kiss twice in the film), but it was actually done very cleverly.

I still think this is really romantic and I can kind of relate. I've been with my husband for 16 years (married 13, today as a matter of fact) and I haven't kissed anyone else! Wouldn't want to, either!)

I don't care for Kirk's religious aspects, but I do admire his commitment to his marriage. It would be bad if every married actor/actress in Hollywood refused to kiss anyone but their spouse, but it would be nice if they all cared about their marriages the way Kirk does.

Kirk was amazing in this movie. Best acting from him I've ever seen! He really deserved a nomination of some sort, if not an Academy Award nomination.
