View Full Version : Instead of Photoshop, does anybody use....
Wreckless 09-23-2008, 10:48 AM the program Picasa? I have Picasa 3, the 3rd installment of the program. My Photography professor this semester introduced all of us to the program. It's not as in depth as photoshop, but you can do a lot with the pictures. Also, much like Photobucket and other Web Albums, their is a Picasa website, basically another web album along with the program to store your photos and movies you take. It's pretty cool, anybody else ever hear and try this? I have an assignment where I had to take 25-30 photos and I am editing the shots with Picasa. Just curious if anybody else uses it.
Lodee 09-23-2008, 10:53 AM I've got Picasa 2. I can't do much with that except play with the lighting etc. I can't even take out pimples or whiten teeth or any of that good stuff. Is 3 different?
Wreckless 09-23-2008, 11:12 AM Yeah, you can edit out blemishes & red eye and all that, change colors- Sepia, B&W etc..
TripperFan 09-23-2008, 01:23 PM I've used Picasa, but it's very, very basic - good for photo collages, etc. It's also a free download so that's good.
I love my Photoshop Elements - less expensive but can do most of the stuff the full package does - especially if you also have Adobe Acrobat 8.0 - plus it's easy to use. :)
Wreckless 09-23-2008, 03:38 PM Yeah, I like some of the effects you can put on photos. It's good for submitting photos and editing them for classes or just messing around, while Photoshop and other programs are more technilogically advanced as far as photography programs go.
Courtnee 09-23-2008, 07:51 PM I use a program called Photofiltre. It's a free download and I use it to make my avatars. I miss my photoshop, though.
Hollow 09-23-2008, 08:00 PM i use a program called paint.net for advanced editing. it's a free knockoff of paint shop pro, which is why i love it.

I always had a rough time figuring out Paint Shop for some reason. I didn't find it that user friendly. 'course, I'm a "geezer" by your standards so that might be part of it. ;)

I have that on my older computer, I like it as well because it's sort of like Photoshop. But the only thing that I don't like about it is that he doesn't have all of the tools that photoshop has.

I love paint.net. It may not be as good as Photoshop, but you can't beat the price. ;) I would def. recommend it, esp. over Windows Paint.

littlebelle 09-24-2008, 12:50 AM You bet. That was my pre-photoshop days... haha. It's the bootleg photoshop.
Wreckless 09-24-2008, 08:11 AM What's the best program besides Photoshop to make album covers?
