View Full Version : price is right season premiere
mriggles 09-23-2008, 10:01 AM For those of you that saw it yesterday, you can see nothing has changed radically, a few tweaks here & there but overall its mostly the same. There was one gigantic difference though for yesterdays show & i think the rest of this week as well... Did anyone notice?
howilu 09-23-2008, 10:56 AM I noticed that in the Showcase Showdown that the Bonus Spin money has increased to $10,000 and $25,000.
The Great One 09-23-2008, 02:46 PM Except for the $10,000 and $25,000 increase I didn't notice any other major set changes.
JulieSomoski 09-23-2008, 07:01 PM I saw the premiere on Monday, but missed today's episode - what was the difference??-LOL
Very good, though. Drew definitely seems comfortable enough now. Hopefully this "no changes" policy will continue for awhile :D

On Tuesday, it was found out for the first time that Check Game's win range is now $7,000 to $8,000 (previously, it was $5,000 to $6,000).

your right on your observation, but that is not what i was referring too
mriggles 09-23-2008, 09:08 PM if you look closely at the big wheel, you will notice a bit of a difference. They shot the first 2 weeks of the season out of order & the first week of tapings back in july... They painted the wheel & it had purple spots on it & the reaction from Drew & audience members was so bad they repainted the wheel. While they were doing that they brought the big wheel from the vegas stage show to studio 33. I am not sure how many shows were filmed with that wheel but I am pretty sure the rest of this week is the vegas wheel...
Just some inside info for ya ;)

You are right
there are going to be a few of those little changes here in the coming days or weeks as we discussed back in July
Mr. Morrison86 09-25-2008, 08:31 AM Yeah i watch the Season Premiere it was fantastic, but you're right,Mike there's gonna be some changes,i got a feeling they are not done yet making more changes. i love the new pricing game "Gas Money" it's looks old school gas pump and I vote this No. 1 Best Design Pricing game in the 2000's
mriggles 09-25-2008, 08:27 PM I want to correct myself everyone.. I was mistaken with the info I passed on about the big wheel. The wheel your currently seeing airing is the regular wheel with a new look to it, but its the wheel you will see all season with a few exceptions. We will see the vegas wheel for 2 shows in Oct, not sure airdates yet, I will let you know. I called my friend in Hollywood today on another matter & we were talking price & i asked him about the wheel & he corrected the info he gave me earlier regarding it.
Sorry about that!!!
GolfDude 09-25-2008, 11:22 PM i noticed the "font" of the numbers on the wheel changed... i assumed that was the vegas wheel...
TPIRfan333 09-28-2008, 01:48 PM This is the calm before the storm.

so did I which is why I did not question it... But when I was talking to my friend I mentioned I am glad the vegas wheel is only temporary, & he said...NO NO thats the new wheel... I was like UGH
Its not that big of a deal..but another piece of tradition is tampered with

When will you have more TPIR news for all of us?

Yeah, the new wheel definitely has the "different" feel to it. When watching, you just know that it's not the same wheel that we've been seeing for 30 years.
Not too bad, though. At least the set, for the most part, is still the same. That's one thing if changed I don't think I could take.
mriggles 10-01-2008, 09:55 PM When will you have more TPIR news for all of us?
there is not much to tell at this point... Despite all the rumors you may read or hear about, the truth is at this moment things are quiet...
I know they are planning some more prime time specials for early next year... & it will be alot tougher to win the million bucks!!! LOL
Also I am hearing that the video wall may be rearing its ugly head on the set really soon...more on that soon

agreed Julie... I noticed the wheel right away...but I was expecting a different wheel, but I got my signals crossed with my friend.. I thought the wheel we would be seeing for the 1st week was the vegas stage show wheel, but it turns out that is the new wheel...
YOur right its not that big of a change, but like I said above..another traditional piece of history tampered with
We will see the actual vegas wheel on a few shows this month or next.. I will try & get the air dates for u
GolfDude 10-02-2008, 11:02 AM i loved todays show intro with drew not being behind the doors and pretending to be pushed toward the opening, with rich cracking up at the end of announcing drew's name
and there was the vegas wheel!
you sources are slipping!

weren't they planning on giving the original wheel to the Smithsonian?
I kinda like the numbers more on the Vegas wheel, but I don't really like the number readout. It's not really the right color for studio lighting.

that was so awesome, and then him saying "Crowd! Crowd! Crowd!" when they were chanting his name. there was also the little dancing bit at the end of SCSD #1. too funny.

Same here. I laughed at both of those bits today. As a matter of fact, I've actually gotten a laugh from more of Drew's funny bits more than I ever had with Bob Barker's attempts to be funny in the last two years of his version.

Slipping eh? well sorry u feel that way...
friendsfan77 10-03-2008, 01:49 AM I don't mind the number design on the Vegas wheel but I don't like the score readout. The color really doesn't work for the studio lighting.
Heidi Dawn 10-04-2008, 11:31 AM The Vegas wheel was only ever used on Thursday's episode (Oct. 2).
According to Golden-Road.net, the producers scrapped the video wall idea claiming it was too expensive. Instead, they're using a green screen for all trip displays in future episodes (the contestant will still see the name of the trip, but the green screen when it airs will have video of the destination).
The purple wheel will show up soon, it was used for about a week's worth of shows.
So fans, go to Golden-Road.net for reliable information.
friendsfan77 10-04-2008, 11:50 AM I really liked yesterday's showcase with Rich being on-camera. I loved how he kept talking about that $1,000 like it was the best thing ever

hmmm the green wall sure seems like a video wall to me, I know its not the video wall that was originally discussed, but it still is a video wall
