released on DVD and a long FREEZE on the remaining seasons?

For example, the Jeffersons have 6 seasons on DVD and 5 seasons left to be released. So are they any other situated the same way where there are more seasons released than the remaining number of season that need to be released? Damm that is dumb, when the number of releases is more than what's left to be released than it's time to wrap up the series on DVD

now if a show has only 2 releases and 6 more seasons to go like Diffrent Strokes then I can understand the FREEZE on the remaining releases.

Oh I just thought of another one, Fresh prince has 4 seasons released and only 2 left to have a complete series on DVD.

Not sure of exact # of seasons but what about All In The Family? THat's had, what six seasons released I think, plus "season one" of Archie Bunker's Place which was never really a seperate show.

Oh Yeah that's another one, I think AITF has 5 or 6 seasons out and that would mean only 4 or 3 more seasons to go but the FREEZE is on-lol

Yeah, All in the Family had 6 seasons released so far, with only 3 more seasons to go (it had 9 overall). Now that's just plain dumb - if I was Sony, I'd be releasing those final seasons as fast as possible so they can make as much money off them as soon as possible.

Another 1 I can think of is Mad About You - it has 3 seasons to released, plus a best of set, with only 4 more seasons to go. Why stop there?

Also, Sabrina the Teenage Witch - I'm not sure what's going on with this show, but Paramount has released the first 4 seasons on DVD, and there's only 3 more to go. They haven't abandoned it yet, but they haven't announced any more plans for season 5.

I'm really surprised Fresh Prince releases is still frozen-lol But after thinking about it I won't buy the last 2 seasons of FP because I seen all those eps on NBC and remember them very well while I was in College so it wouldn' be nothing new that I would be seeing on the DVD like shows from the 70's and 80's that I didn't watch in it's original run

I could really care less if they make it to DVD - it's not one of those shows that I have to get on DVD. If they do ever release it, though, I'd probably pick it up just to own, but it's not that big of a deal to me.

I can't believe music rights are still tying Fresh Prince up, though. I never realized they had that much music.

I'm waiting on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. So far, 4 seasons have come out: The 1st two in 2005 & the last 2 in 2006. I think there are 7 or 8 seasons altogether.

Melrose Place has quite a few more seaons to go. There are 8 or 9 & only 3 have been released. Same way w/ 90210 w/ a total of 10 seasons.

Why is it that the current shows that aren't even that good have the complete series out already, but we have to wait forever for the old favorites from the 80s and 90s?

Archie Bunker's Place is a separate show, it's a spinoff.

It makes perfect sense. Shows that were on in the past 5-10 years are more etched in the publics conscience that they love the show. Whereas faves from the 80's, 70's and before might not be as much of a priority because of the whole "I liked it then... but I can't guarantee I'll still like it" mentality. It does make sense, there are a lot of shows I loved as a child in the 80's and early 90's that I wouldn't take on DVD for free now.

Because that's the nature of the marketplace today. Had the idea of people being able to own their favorite shows on dvd been around all this time you would have more older shows on dvd. What's hot now sells better and is more immediate than nostalgia.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. They released all within a matter of 2 years I remember, the first 4 seasons on DVD. Since then they won't somehow get out the 5th and 6th season- the final 2 seasons to the show. I also want a whole collection DVD Box set like That '70s Show recently came out with, but for TFP. Hope it gets done.

I'm waiting for The 3rd and final season of The Flying Nun and the final season of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. Not to mention the rest of Bewitched, they need three more seasons to go on that one.

Actually, season 6 of Bewitched was released last May. Sony does have plans to release the final two seasons in 2009.

These 5 shows: The Jeffersons, All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart and Green Acres, are the best examples of sitcoms where they put out half the series (or more) and then just left us hanging. For the life of me I'll never understand this situation. They all have cult followings, why don't they just release them?
